Hi Community,

Can anyone tell me whether anyone at Zoom is capable of consolidating my existing Workplace Pro and Phone Unlimited US & Canada subscriptions into a single Pro Plus subscription?

It has taken the combined efforts of Zoom's Billing, Sales, and Technical Support teams eighteen days, three tickets, and 4 phone calls and counting to essentially tell me:

"Well, you can do this yourself if you want. Since you can't subscribe to Pro Plus yourself while you have existing subscriptions, all you have to do is fully cancel all your plans, wait almost a month for them to fully expire, subscribe to Pro Plus at that point, and then immediately file a support case with Technical Support to see if they can maybe get your phone numbers back, since you will immediately lose them once your plans fully expire. There's no guarantee you'll be able to get them back anyway, even with Technical Support's help. But you should talk to Technical Support/Sales/Billing anyway, since Technical Support/Sales/Billing is the wrong team for this. We don't actually care, bye."

Everyone at Zoom across these three teams so far has ignored my actual request, which is to simply switch my plans and port my numbers over to Pro Plus for me, since I'm obviously not going to risk my numbers by doing it myself - that's asinine. If Zoom is actually incapable of doing this, no one has had the courtesy to actually tell me it's not possible. Instead, I keep getting referred to other teams in a circle.

One rep made up a "reference number" that she didn't actually create. (No other reps have been able to find it). Another rep promised me a call from "Harold", an "account exective" who never called, and who probably doesn't exist. Why all the lying?

I had heard horror-movie stories about Zoom, but I had to had to experience it for myself before I realized it was anywhere near this bad. Is everything OK over there?

(At least this hasn't been consequence-free for Zoom. I know I'm too small a fish for Zoom to care, but I informed my first client about this experience, and it convinced them not to move over to Zoom Phone themselves - that's two seats and two numbers they'll never see. I'll be warning the rest of my clients away if I still don't have an answer in a month's time, which is way too generous).

What an embarrassment.

Hi Zoom Community 👋

Zoom has announced updates to IP subnet ranges and network configurations for various services. New and updated IPv4 ranges have been added for Zoom Phone and Zoom Contact Center, with specific ranges for HTTP Call Widget requests in the Flow Editor. Additionally, one IP range (16.63.29.0/24) has been removed from Zoom Meeting and Cloud Room Connector services due to migration to larger contiguous ranges. Network administrators should update firewall and network rules to accommodate these changes. Zoom has also introduced new URLs for client certificate validation, which should be added to network configurations.

US01 outbound (NAT Gateway EIP): Jan 3 2025 5:00PM PST

This change will modify Zoom initial connections for ZP/ZCX from existing NAT gateway IP to BYOIP subnets. There is no expected impact or actions for Zoom customers. However, we wanted to notify you all of this change. Please be sure to follow our network firewall page to do network ACL in your edge devices for incoming traffic.

US01 inbound (NLB/NginxPlus EIP): Jan 10 2025 5:00PM PST

This change will modify incoming traffic to Zoom connections for ZP/ZCX for Network load balancer and Nginx Plus IP. There is no expected impact or actions for Zoom customers. Follow our network firewall page to do network ACL in your edge devices for outgoing traffic.

Hi All - I have a small business we only 5 staff - 2 of which are remote.

For the zoom phone system this is what we would like - 1 phone number for clients to call with extensions. This phone number will be primarily answered by one of our staff and then routed to the other used. Also we would like to be able to call out from this number and have multiple lines so more then one of our team can call out at once.

Is this possible? Do I need to get every user their phone number or am I ok with just having one Main line number to do this?

Thanks!

Michael

Our work flow requires that we use a dynamic link through Zoom Business accessed from the web, not the app.  I have had issues with connecting to meetings.  If I uninstall the desktop app, I have less issues.  However, I cannot seem to hear the other person.  (this maybe an issue on the other end).  I should add, about 80% of my time on Zoom is through phone calls.

If I install the desktop app, the audio works better but connection is horrible.  The app opens up and gets in the way of using the web call.  I do click on "use browser", but it doesn't matter, the app still opens a whole new meeting.  This is costing my time (and money) to complete this task.  I have meetings all day and this is quite aggravating to go through every time I make a zoom call.

Has anyone encountered this?  Is there a way to keep the desktop app from opening?  I have been working with IT and the answer is to uninstall the app.  There doesn't seem to be any way to make this right.  If it matters, I use a Surface Go Laptop.  I have wondered if this was an issue with using the Surface products.  Love my Surfaces but they are not compatible with many programs and browsers.

I appreciate any help anyone can offer!

Caller ID Display and Directory: Incoming Calls Preferences

We currently have Yealink T54W Desk Phones. I love how Zoom Phones (and Yealink) are able to display the Caller ID name with extra information. For example, if a call is routed to a Call Queue that the user is a member of, their desk phone will ring and show the caller ID name as "JOHN SMITH calling for CALL QUEUE A". Alternatively if the caller enters the user's extension at the IVR the caller ID name shows as "JOHN SMITH calling for USER A".

However if the caller's ID is not updated on their side or is unavailable, the caller ID name will expectedly come across as "UNAVAILABLE calling for CALL QUEUE A". If it's a frequent caller, we'd like to update that on our side to be aware of the caller. If I add this caller to the local directory as MIKE SMITH, then all incoming calls from this caller will appear as MIKE SMITH. That's good to see the name now, but it does lose the "calling for CALL QUEUE A/ USER A" information...

I'm unsure if what I'm looking for is even possible but I might as well ask. Ideally, we'd like to insert frequent caller's into our local directory so that we can personalize the caller's name and assign a contact avatar icon for the group. If that caller calls in, we'd like to see the Caller ID Name as the personalized caller name set by us in the local directory + "calling for CALL QUEUE A/USER A". We'd also like to see that contact avatar icon if we set one.

Does anyone have any suggestions or alternatives? Thanks.

with repect to Yealink MP56 desk phones, Yealink support article describes how to convert a Teams edition to a Zoom edition.

i do not have any personal experience converting mp56 e2 from teams edition to zoom edition.

i think it is possible.  according to yealink:

"The phone cannot be used as both Teams and Zoom phones simultaneously. This is the strategy of Microsoft and Zoom.

There is no license requirement for converting Teams and Zoom versions. You can directly upgrade the device firmware to the desired version."

please see yealink support article Convert between Teams and Zoom Versions.

 Yealink Support

  1. Log in to the phone web user interface as an admin.

  2. Go to Settings > Upgrade > Upgrade Firmware > Browse.

  3. Select the latest firmware for Zoom and click Upload.

it appears to me that you do an Upgrade Firmware located at the bottom of the screen and browse to select the current zoom firmware version.

thanks,  eliot
