I have been running zoom on my chromebox for well over a year. Recently, a message at the top says they're going to cease support for the app in August and replace it with Zoom PWA. I've tried to convert since they're telling me I'm going to have to, but it doesn't work. Each time I try to join a meeting with the new app, it generates a new meeting invitation, sends me the information email. Using the meeting ID from that email just starts the process again. It's an endless loop. The "old app" works just fine.

Any thoughts or advice?

Chromebox has 16 GB RAM

GB service for my internet connection

I am a member of a nonprofit which conducts daily Zoom meetings for a large number of members. It appears that the 2-part authentication set up on Zoom recently has impeded my (as well as others’) ability to open the Zoom room for our daily meetings. Whoever opened the account with Zoom is no longer with the organization, and although we have the specific meeting numbers and username and password, none of us have access to the 6-digit “host” code that is now required to open the room. And Zoom’s telephonic support line requires that info. All of us who are affected have been using the login/password from our multiple devices for years, and yet we are unable to open and conduct our meetings as of last Thursday . If anyone else having this issue has found a solution, I would LOVE to hear it! Thx!

Modify the default email content

Default Meeting Invitation content. It is too redundant and complicated. I hope it can be deleted.

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Andrew Wissler.  How do I save an in-meeting chat on your Android app, and how do I find and change the default folder for where it is saved?

Also, how can I view the chat side-by-side with the meeting on your Android app?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Andrew Wissler

Hosting

Hi,

If I make someone a host, can I get off the call and start a new Zoom meeting in my usual link?  Or will they be in that same link (I use my personal I.D. link)?

I'm having a meeting where I'm inviting about 25 people, but encouraging those people to forward the invitation to friends of theirs who might be interested.  If I'm lucky, I'll get 50 people to the meeting.  I'm encouraging people to let me know if they plan to log into the meeting, but I'm not having much success at getting responses, and I want people to be there, so I don't want to mandate that they respond.

I am somewhat concerned about Zoom bombing.

Trying to figure out best security settings:

  1. Password:  no brainer.
  2. Only allow authenticated users to join:  I think this will create all sorts of problems.  Some of the likely attendees are not all that tech savvy.  I don't think I can use this.
  3. Waiting room:  Problem here is that I may not know a friend of a friend, so if I have John Smith in the waiting room, I either have to quiz him about who he is, or I just let him in and hope for the best.  And if "iPhone 9" joins, good luck....  So in practice, the waiting room seems like it might add lots of fiddly decisions and stress.
  4. I can only allow participants from particular countries.  There will definitely be people from half-a-dozen countries on the call, and I could allow only those countries.  That leaves a possibility that someone's friend dials in from a country not on the list, but that's probably a small risk.  This is helpful if I know that most Zoom bombing arises from countries outside this list, but if most Zoom bombing comes from within the US, Canada, UK..., it won't do much to help me.

So I seem to be stuck with using a password only, and hoping that no one is dumb enough to post the invitation on social media where it can be seen?   Any words of wisdom on how to proceed, and how much risk of Zoom bombing there actually is?

I have never seen this alert before and cannot find away to disable it - the message may have two or three participants on that list.  It pops up and is gone in about 5 sec.  We have been doing this for months and months and yet THIS is new to me.   🤔
