Can't find an answer anywhere here, so asking the community.

I have been using Zoom for several years, and over the past month or so the audio stopped working when sharing a video using 'Share Screen'.

I teach English 1-to-1 on Zoom, and often use YouTube videos as part of the lesson.

Before anyone asks, I have updated and reinstalled Zoom, and the problem is happening on both Windows and Mac.

I have "share sound" selected, and have tried using "optimise for video sharing" as well as not optimising (never used to need to do this)

I am using a Platronics mic and have this as the system audio, (as always) for mic and headphones.

I thought it might be a copyright thing, and tried it with Spotify, and it doesn't work with that either, nor does it with iTunes music.

It's really impacting my lessons, and it's annoying because I'm paying for Zoom yet I'm not getting what I need.

It's worked for years and suddenly it stopped working... I didn't change anything, and I really have tried all the solutions I can find online.

Any suggestions welcome!

Camera not working during Zoom browser meetings

I'm running Windows 11 (Version 24HR (OS Build 26100.3476)) and my browser is Firefox (136.0.1 (64-bit)).  I have a healthcare provider that uses an online portal (https://www.athenahealth.com/patient-login) for virtual appointments.  When I attempt to join the appointments it opens Zoom in a browser window, even though I have the Zoom Workplace (Version: 6.3.11 (60501)) desktop app installed on my PC.

When I try to turn on the camera it says, you must grant permission in your browser settings and offers this link for more info (https://zoom.us/wc/support/mic) - note the microphone works just fine, it is only the camera that won't work.

Following the instruction at that link, I click the lock icon in the address bar of the browser window in which the telehealth appointment is open and click the ">" caret next to the words  "Connection Secure", then "More Information", and "Permissions".

From there I scroll down to "Use the Camera" and de-select "Use Default" and click the radio button next to "Allow", then close the tab, but the camera still won't turn on.  I then closed the browser, re-opened, navigated back to the telehealth portal and tried again, but still camera won't work and only gives the same link (https://zoom.us/wc/support/mic).  Looking at at the browser settings - camera permissions I see one website set to "Allow" (https://telehealth.px.athena.io), and this is the address from the telehealth portal), and no other websites listed.  There is a checkbox at the bottom to "block new requests asking to access your camera, but that is unchecked.

Everything I can see in the browser seems to be set with the correct permissions, but still the camera won't work in this Zoom browser portal.  I have used this PC with the Zoom Workspace app and the camera works fine.  I have used this PC and browser with both Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, and in both cases the camera works just fine.

I have an older Windows 10 device, using the same version of Firefox, with the same browser settings - camera permissions set to allow for the same website, and the camera works just fine.

Any advice as to what's wrong?

When connected to a paid account and am given permission to record, on one computer I have the choice to record either to the cloud or locally, on another my only choice is the cloud. In both cases, I am logged into my (free) account when joining the zoom meeting. If I start a meeting of my own on either computer, it records locally successfully (no cloud option, since it's a free account)

I compared the permissions in system settings > privacy and security on both computers, and they seem the same and ok. (Mac systems)

- I gave it full disk access

- Accessibility is on

- camera is on

- microphone is on

- screen and system audio recording is on

am I missing something? any ideas?

thanks

Alex

We currently have a WorkPlace Pro account. We use the Personal Room for that account for an all day meeting, acting as a 'squawk box', where off-site employees connect to it so that they can talk to people in a shared workspace throughout the day. While I understand that people can join from the Zoom app on their phones, we wanted to see if there is a way to dial-in from a cell phone directly to the personal room. The knowledgebase and chat support doesn't make it clear to me if this is an option or not. I know that the functionality is supported by Zoom at some level.  What's not clear to me is if this is a feature that we need to purchase (being Pro suggests that we already have it, as we don't care about toll-free dialing) or if it is not supported for the personal room.

If anyone has any idea about how it works, I'd appreciate your insight.  Thanks.

Hello everybody,

I'm using a MacBook with M1 chip and the latest version of Zoom (also tested with older versions like 5.17.11). My camera works fine in all other apps (FaceTime, browser, etc.), but in the Zoom native app, my background appears completely green, even though I have no virtual background enabled and the "green screen" option is turned off.

I've fully uninstalled Zoom, removed all related files (Application Support, Caches, Preferences), disabled all hardware acceleration options, and tried different camera settings. Nothing works.

Zoom works perfectly in the browser – only the desktop app has this issue.

For the last 2 versions of Zoom it's not possible anymore for me to use the sharing.

If I start sharing, the item I shared is no longer accessible to me. It's not possible to interact with the Window / Desktop anymore.

  • I have seen this with the client before 6.2.5 to which I unfortunately upgraded.
  • I hoped it would be fixed with 6.2.5, but it's not.
  • Reading the release notes for 6.2.6 I also assume that version will also not improve the situation

As screen sharing is one of the most important reasons for me to use Zoom, right now, that's not possible anymore.

As a side note: I can select a background picture in 6.2.5 and it's shown on the preview, but in a real call, the background will be black. ( Seems to work after update to 6.2.6 ... ':-) )
