I'm part of a nonprofit that allows various people enter the zoom account using the same password and user name. There is no specific administrator or different passwords for different people to enter.

Recently someone entered the zoom account and started a meeting. They were in the meeting but it was not acting like they were the host of the meeting. They could not see when new people were in the waiting room, waiting to join the meeting.

Is it possible that when I went into the account an hour before the meeting to create a different meeting on a different date, when I didn't sign out of the account after I was finished, could that have created a problem for the person starting the meeting?

I wasn't at the meeting with them so I am not certain what they experienced but they did say that they couldn't see all of the people in the waiting room, and so, could not let them in to start the meeting.

Success in un-installing/re-installing Zoom Workplace Client (64-bit) by abstract thinking

While trying to install Zoom Workplace I encountered MANY comments from disappointed users.  I spent some 15-20 hours over several days as I tried to follow Zoom's recommended installation procedures.I did not achieve any success until I stepped away from the problem for a while and tried to figure out what was unique about my situation.  I have 3 computers running Zoom (actually 5) but only 3 were involved in this issue - 1 HP Notebook running Win 10 and 2 HP Notebooks running Win11.  The installation on #3 (Win 11) was the big problem.   All 3 had been working fine until I had a problem with #3 and I was forced to uninstall / re-install Zoom Workplace from scratch.

The attached PDF tells the long story of the various failed attempts in trying to get 64-bit Zoom Workplace installed and how I abstracted to figure out that it was not my problem, nor was the computer's configuration damaged - it was Zoom's installation instructions and procedures that really need to be improved.

The short version (workaround) is pretty simple, but it took multiple uninstalls/re-installs, running SFC, DISM, CCleaner, AVIRA, Malwarebytes,  Chkdsk, Memory Diagnostics, and many other actions to figure out there was nothing wrong with the computer and that I was not doing anything wrong - several aspects of the Zoom Workplace Installation procedures are misleading.

  1. Download BOTH 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Zoom Workplace (in separate folders);
  2. Run CleanZoom (instead of excellent uninstallers like REVO) because the Zoom uninstall/re-install procedures will setup the proper changes to the firewall settings and remove MOST (but not all) the registry entries;  Running REVO (or other uninstallers) may result in issues with user access, permissions and Firewall rules, so use Clean Zoom instead.
  3. FIRSTLY, install the 32-bit version first (DO NOT install 64-bit until later) - 32-bit Workplace will install and then launch and you will get a warning that this version will become obsolete in December 2025.
  4. STOP - There will be a link on the screen implying that clicking that link will download Workplace 64-bit.  DO NOT CLICK this link because it will download Workplace download 32-bit AGAIN and you will be stuck in an infinite loop of installing Workplace 32-bit.
  5. SECONDLY, Kill Zoom Workplace 32-bit and install the 64-bit version you have already downloaded in a separate folder - 64-bit Workplace will install and then launch and you will be all set, but I recommend TWO more steps.
  6. Run CCleaner or some other reputable registry cleaner (the cleaner will find a number of Zoom registry entries)  - DELETE these entries
  7. Re-boot your computer (recommended)

NOTE-1: If you are running multiple computers in your environment, Zoom Workplace running on other computers will ask you to validate the identity of the computer on which you just installed/re-installed Workplace.

NOTE-2: If you want to make one last check before moving on, put a shortcut link on the Win11 Desktop and open the Properties TAB and check that the Comment field reads "Zoom workplace" - If you install 64-bit ONLY (and don't first install 32-bit), this Comment will read "Zoom UMX" and Zoom Workplace will launch, but it WILL NOT CONNECT YOU TO MEETINGS.  For for my Win10 notebook, the Properties Comment field is blank.  I'm not going to mess with this installation find out whether a fresh uninstall/re-install will put "Zoom workplace" in the Comment, but I'll surmise that if the Comment field reads "ZOOM DMX" that something is wrong with the installation.

Have fun and you should also have success,

Paul Collins - virtual dance room

On September 4, 2025, Zoom CEO Eric Yuan joined other technology leaders to attend the White House Task Force meeting on AI education and support the Pledge to America's Youth, a commitment to help prepare today’s students for a world where AI skills are as foundational as math or reading.

At Zoom, we believe AI can strengthen and transform education, not replace it. It should free teachers to focus on teaching, give students more personalized learning experiences, and help families feel confident that their children are developing the skills that matter for the future. Building on our history of keeping classrooms connected during the pandemic and supporting hybrid learning today, we’re committed to helping the next generation thrive in an AI-powered world.

"In a world where AI competency is increasingly becoming a key driver of career success, students need to be equipped with skills to put this technology to work for them in a safe and effective manner,” said Yuan. “Our goal is to make AI accessible and helpful for everyone by using it to streamline tasks for educators, personalize learning for students, and equip young people with the skills they'll need for tomorrow's careers.”

An investment in the future of learning

As part of the AI Education Pledge, Zoom is dedicating $5 million over three years to support K-12 education through carefully targeted cash grants and product donations to outstanding nonprofits and education institutions working at the national and local level. This initiative focuses on three key areas:

AI literacy: Funding programs that teach K-12 students about AI and creating accessible resources for all.

AI career pathways: Supporting internships and courses to help students explore and pursue careers in AI, especially for underrepresented groups.

Workforce development: Providing upskilling and retraining aligned with industry needs for workers and job seekers.

Joining forces for the next generation

Zoom is proud to join other tech leaders in this effort. By participating, we're helping to ensure the next generation is ready to not just adapt to AI, but to lead its development. As Yuan noted, “Zoom continues to be a leader in keeping students, teachers, and parents connected and providing safe and secure AI tools to help with learning and administrative tasks. We believe that, by working together, we can give future generations the skills they need to drive innovation".

What’s next

Zoom will share more about how it will bring this commitment to life at this year’s Zoomtopia conference, happening virtually on September 17. Secure your spot and follow the Zoom newsroom for more updates.

We've all been there—scrolling endlessly through scattered files, desperately searching for a key meeting recording or that brilliant whiteboard session. As Zoom Workplace has evolved, so has the digital clutter, making it harder to find, share, and manage the content you create. The simple act of accessing a file shouldn’t feel like a scavenger hunt.

This fragmentation doesn't just waste your time; it breaks your flow. Hello, everyone.

My company is using Intune for device management and Okta for authentication from Zoom. Is there a way to limit user authentications on mobile devices to require the Zoom for Intune app registered to a device in our tenant? We can't use Conditional Access because we're using Okta for SSO.

Have you been considering whether your organization could benefit from implementing Online Fax services?

Zoom Phone Online Fax is an electronic fax service enabling users to send and receive faxes without a traditional fax machine. It's available for Zoom Phone Pro and various Zoom Workplace plan subscribers. Users can exchange PDF files and utilize features such as auto receptionist and shared line group caller IDs for faxing.

Fax usage is charged per page for certain plans, while others offer unlimited faxing. Currently, the service is limited to US and Canada users and supports only black and white faxes. Users can manage and view their fax logs through the Zoom Workplace app or web portal.

Additionally, Online Fax requires a Zoom Phone Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) or Prepay plan to be activated.

To enable to disable the Online Fax, please refer to the Knowledge Based Article regarding Enabling or Disabling Online Fax. You may also browse additional Knowledge Based Article about Understanding Online Fax Licensing.

I've been encountering some customers who want to get more out of Zoom Workplace, so I thought of sharing this tool that might be of interest.

Many of us know Zoom for virtual meetings, but its powerful features can also enhance your in-person gatherings. Picture a lively brainstorming session: ideas are flowing and key decisions are being made. Can you remember every single detail a week later? Probably not.

This is where recording with Zoom comes in. It's like having a perfect memory for your meeting, capturing all the valuable discussion points and decisions. This simple tool ensures your team can easily review what was said, get new members up to speed, and keep everyone aligned.

Using Voice Recorder with AI Companion

To make this even easier, Voice Recorder can be used with AI Companion. It records your in-person conversation and then automatically generates a transcript and summary. This gives you a written and audio record of what was said, which is great for documentation, training, or just quickly referencing key details.

Before you begin, always make sure you follow all applicable laws when recording conversations. The first time you start recording, an on-screen prompt will appear with instructions to guide you.

How to Record an Ad Hoc Event

Follow these simple steps to start a new recording with the Zoom mobile app:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.

  2. Tap the Record button.

  3. If a verification dialog appears, tap OK.

  4. The recording will start right away, unless you have an upcoming calendar event.

  5. If you do have a scheduled event, you'll be prompted to choose between it or a new recording. Simply tap New recording, then Start recording.

We hope that more users make use of this tool for their important conversations. To know more about Zoom's Voice Recorder, please access this guide on Using Voice Recorder with AI Companion.
