Hello,   I just updated my Zoom client to the latest version of Zoom - and it has been a nightmare beginning of term for me as a result.  My uni IT has been helping me to work through several compatibility issues with the Zoom update and MyLearningSpace aka BrightSpace aka Desire2Learn.   However, there is one issue IT has not been able to resolve:

-----When I am in a class (Zoom meeting), if I share my screen (which I always do, because Powerpoint) - my Video Panel disappears.  If I click on the three dots at the bottom toolbar, the option View Video Panel has completely disappeared, as well.  When I stop Screen Sharing, it reappears.

So it would seem I can show my students slides, or I can see my students, but not both.  This has become a huge problem, because now I have to toggle between screen sharing, and answering their raised hands.  It's eating up class time.  My IT unit has no idea what to do about it.

Has anyone else run into this?

Have you fixed it?

I do have the latest Firefox.

Honestly, I wish I hadn't updated, because everything was working perfectly last year.  Now, I'm having a really rough time doing exactly the same things I did last year, because features have stopped working with the update. 😞

Thank you for any help!

Resolved! Locking Zoom recordings

Is it possible to lock a Zoom recording that has been released to students so that they may not log in and view it during an exam?

I have a number of Zoom meetings that I attend. I am not the host but would like to save them to my Google Calendar. So that I can also see them as scheduled in my Zoom Home page. When I try, Google wants to assign a new meeting ID and password instead of giving me an option to place the existing ID and password generated by the actual host in it. What should I be doing to save these meetings?

I'm running Zoom 5.8.0 on Ubuntu Linux 20.04.3 LTS. I'm having a problem with one of my input devices: the "Input Level" bar in the Audio Settings is not accurately telling me whether the input is working. Sometimes it shows no input, even though I'm being heard loud and clear in the meeting.

This is never a problem when I use my Logitech Webcam mic - that always works. The problem is when I use a different USB device: a Scarlett Solo mic interface. I've observed two strange things with it:

  • For my input to be heard in the meeting, I must set the Input Volume high, even if I check the "Automatically adjust" box. In other words, I have to uncheck the box, set the Input Volume to max, then recheck the box.
  • Once I've done that, I can be heard in the meeting, but the Input Level bar does not always light up. Sometimes it does. Then if I dismiss and reopen the Settings dialog, it doesn't. I can change mic to another device and change it back to the Scarlett, and then it might work again.

As you can see, I cannot solidly predict when the Input Level bar will accurately show input, but it definitely doesn't always show input even when I can be clearly and loudly heard in the meeting.

I've tried accessing the device in two different ways:

  • Directly opening the device as it appears in the dropdown
  • Running JACK against the device, and opening the JACK device

In both cases, I get the same problem: I can be heard in the meeting, but the Input Level bar sometimes suggests no input. I end up wasting a lot of time preparing for meetings by testing through other means (starting my own meeting and recording), and hoping that I'll get the same behavior when I join the actual meeting.

Is there a way to get that indicator working more reliably?

I recently updated and since then when I'm hosting a meeting on our group's account about 50-55 minutes in I  lose all my controls, cant see participant names on those who have their video on, cant see names or anything on those who have video off (they just appear as a black square) cant send or receive chat, cant see names of participants listed under participants button, can't even exit the meeting as that control is gone. I have uninstalled and reinstalled zoom, same thing. This does NOT happen when I'm just a participant and not the host! any ideas?? This recurring meeting is not scheduled in my account but our group's account. I am running Windows 10 Version 21H1for x64-based Systems
