録画設定についての運用

設定で、一定期間経ったら自動削除にしていますが、ものによっては設定した期間以上に録画を残したい場合があります。自動削除の設定をしないで、後から毎月不要になった録画を削除する運用が望ましいのでしょうか。それとも、特定の録画だけユーザ側で期間設定を変更することはできますか。皆さん、どのような運用をされているか、教えて頂けますと幸いです。
