My client wants to attend a zoom meeting (a focus-group) without being noticed. Can you help me?

Kind regards.

How to change name of personal meeting room displayed in waiting room

When someone enters the waiting room for my personal meeting room, the topic says "[My Name]'s Personal Meeting Room." Can I change the meeting topic to something else? I saw the tip to schedule a meeting using my personal room, and name the scheduled meeting whatever I want. That did not work for me. My waiting room still said "[My Name]'s Personal Meeting Room." Also I'm hoping there's a way I can do it without having to schedule meetings. Thank you!

Hi, all.

I use the Zoom client app on my Linux laptop, and it runs under a proxy setting configured by a PAC (Proxy Auto Configuration) file. Unfortunately, sometimes even when I'm not in a meeting, a client process (maybe proxy-related) can run wild and make the fan noise so loud.

According to the logs in ~/.zoom/logs/zoom_stdout_stderr.log:

Download of https://example.com/proxy.pac failed: TLS initialization failed
qt.network.ssl: QSslSocket::connectToHostEncrypted: TLS initialization failed
qt.network.ssl: QSslSocket::connectToHostEncrypted: TLS initialization failed

There are many lines of the same logs!

As the messages say, if I change the proxy settings and download the PAC file via HTTP, the problem will not occur. But I don't want to do that if possible.

Is this an issue with my environment? Or is it a Zoom client issue?

Here is my environment info.

Zoom: 5.15.0 (4063)
OS: Linux 5.19.0 (Ubuntu 22.04)

Regards,
vhertz

Hello,

It seems to be possible to start a second instance of the ZOOM application for meetings on the same windows machine using the /secondary argument when using Windows key -> run.

With that it would be possible to join the same meeting from the same PC at the same time.

Usually this can also be done using the browser, but the browser version of ZOOM doesn't allow for the participant using the browser to be an interpreter.

Of course this would also be possible with workarounds like virtualisation etc.

We are hosting ZOOM events with different translations. The translators are usually in the same room. Currently we need to use different computers, cameras and microphones simultaneously. We have a fairly good sound system which is connected to one computer. And having to handle several different computer with two microphones per translator (one we use for our recording/streaming and one semi-professional microphone etc specifically for ZOOM) is a bit of a complicated workaround.

For us, being able to use two zoom instances at the same time to join the same meeting would solve a lot of these issues.

I want to emphasis that this question is not about joining two different ZOOM meetings at the same time, which can only be done with a second ZOOM account or with one business/enterprise/education account.

My main question in this regard:

Is this kind of usage allowed from the site of ZOOM?

It seems that ZOOM is usually not allowing to run a second instance of the desktop app on the same PC.

That might sound like a weird question for you, but we don't want to adopt the mentality "it's possible, so we do it".

Thank you very much.

I want everyone in meetings I host to be able to screen share by default.

I've set the appropriate setting in my account (see screenshot).

However, whenever I click "New meeting", Zoom still defaults to "Host only" screensharing (see screenshot) and other users cannot share their screens.

Is this a bug?
