Zoom Support provided this solution to make Poly desk phones such as VVX and Edge series immediately dial without pressing Send button.

WARNING -  MAKE SURE THAT EMERGENCY NUMBERS LIKE 911 in UNITED STATES ARE TESTED

Add the following sample Dial Plan into a Provisioning Template , then the users will not be required to press the “Send” key to initiate a call on the Poly phones:

  • dialplan.digitmap="[2-9]11|0T|011xxx.T|[0-1][2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[1-9]xxT|**x.T|+x.T"
  • dialplan.digitmap.timeout="3|3|3|3|3|3|3|3"

chatgpt explains:

please describe what this poly dial plan does - dialplan.digitmap="[2-9]11|0T|011xxx.T|[0-1][2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[1-9]xxT|**x.T|+x.T"

The provided Poly (Polycom) dial plan defines a digit map that controls how phone numbers are dialed and matched. Here’s what each segment means:

Dial Plan Breakdown:
[2-9]11: Allows dialing of emergency and service numbers like 911.
0T: Allows dialing numbers starting with 0 followed by an unspecified length (e.g., operator or international).
011xxx.T: For dialing international numbers, starting with 011 followed by at least three digits, then any further sequence.
[0-1][2-9]xxxxxxxxx: Allows dialing of North American numbers, such as long-distance numbers starting with 0 or 1, followed by 10 digits.
[2-9]xxxxxxxxx: Allows dialing local numbers without area code prefixes.
[1-9]xxT: Allows three-digit numbers, e.g., internal extensions, followed by an optional timeout (T).
**x.T: Allows dialing feature codes that start with **, followed by any digits.
+x.T: Supports international dialing with numbers prefixed by +.
Timeout Configuration:
dialplan.digitmap.timeout="3|3|3|3|3|3|3|3": Specifies a timeout of 3 seconds for each segment of the digit map before the call is initiated.
In summary, this dial plan manages different types of calls—emergency, international, local, and feature codes—each with a timeout of 3 seconds. This configuration ensures flexibility in dialing, covering common phone numbers, emergency calls, feature dialing, and international access.

This is accomplished in the Admin Web Page, under Phone System Management , then Company Info > Account Settings > Desk Phone > Provision Template, see screen shot below:

i suggest that you test this on one poly desk phone to be sure it works for you. in some cases, you will have to take into account the length of your extension numbers.  the sample dial plan handles three digit extensions, but this can be changed.

thanks,  eliot
