One User with Two Extensions

We have one manager that works out of multiple branches. Is there a way to tie several extensions to one user, so they are able to answer calls at each branch from each local desk phone? We have multi-sites configured.

hi @networker409

You can assign three or less desk phones or Zoom Workplace apps to one user.  One desk phone can be in one office and another desk phone can be in the other office.

If you have multiple sites, the phone will belong to the same site as the phone user.

You could also use common area desk phones where the desk phones are located on a spare desk.  Anyone can sign in and use the phone.  Once signed in, the desk phone has the same set up as their usual phone.

With Windows and mobile apps, it is even easier.  The manager would sign in to the app at any branch, cell phone or from home.

Yes, you can usually achieve this by assigning multiple extensions to a single user or using features like hot desking or extension mobility, depending on your phone system. Since you have multi-site configured, check if your PBX supports user profiles that can log into different phones. That way, the manager can receive calls at any branch without needing separate user accounts for each location.

thank you! Can you tell me how I would go about assigning multiple extensions to a single user?

I suspect that manager has a common area phone at each branch? If he had a named user account, all phones (up to 3) would all be assigned the same extension. And no, a user cannot have more than 1 extension assigned to their ZP account. They can have more than 1 telephone number, but not extensions. If your manager is using common area phone devices at different branches, the best option would be to use delegations even if each common area phone is in different sites and within the same Zoom account.

A single user can only be assigned a single extension; However, they can have multiple phone numbers assigned.  In my tenant, users in multiple offices are assigned to their home site in Zoom Phone with their home site extension and then have multiple phone numbers for each office that they work out of.  Dial-by-name makes this a non-issue.

If this helped, please consider marking it as the solution. 😊
