Hello, I think I have a pretty simple question but can't seem to sort it out.
I'm one person that wants one direct dial number.
I added Zoom Phone to my Zoom account and it looks like I have Zoom Phone Basic based on the questions I answered. I now have a "main number" and one extension. I don't really need this. I don't want anyone having to dial an extension to reach me nor do I need a generic main number. Also, I have no plans to add other people any time soon.
My question is this: What is the best/simplest/lowest cost way to get one direct dial number? Do I need to change my plan from Basic to something else or do I need to add a second line?
I appreciate any feedback!
Thanks.

How to assign a calling package to a phone user
After assigning a license, you can assign a calling a calling package if you want to enable outbound calling for phone users.
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
- In the navigation menu, click Phone System Management then Users & Rooms.
- Click the Users tab.
- Locate a phone user and click Assign then Assign Package in the last column.
- Select a calling package and click Confirm and Assign Numbers.
- If you want to assign a direct phone number to Zoom, select a phone number and click Confirm. Otherwise, click Skip.

Thanks, Eliot. I followed the instructions provided and ended up with a similar message: "You need more phone number licenses." With Zoom Phone, do I need a general business number and then another one for a direct number? In other words, if you are one person you end up buying service for two phone numbers, one with extensions and one direct?
Appreciate it.

Ok, I figured it out. I needed to go to my account and then to billing and then go to the phone portion of the account and buy a direct phone number for $5/month.

if you are in usa, you can signup for either:
a. metered plan for $120/year/user - pay as you go (you pay for outgoing minutes) or
b. unlimited usa/canada calls for $180/year/user.
both of these plans include one phone number per plan.
the direct phone number you mentioned only gets you a phone number.

for the metered plan, outgoing minutes rates within usa:
1. without any commitment are $0.0318/per minutes
2. with some minimun commitment are $0.0205/per minute
Note: All rates shown are per call, per minute. Calls are billed in 60 second intervals.

Does this mean in addition to the 120$ per year we have to get a $5/month as well?
