HI

At time my wife and I will be at a zoom meeting- when we do one of fades in and out, depending how far that person is away from camera.

Is there a setting to solve this issue?

Welcome to the Zoom Community, @Birmingdale.

I’m not totally sure I understand the situation, but it sounds to me like you and your wife were both in front of one camera on a Zoom, and the image of one of you fades in and out.

There are only two scenarios I can think of where this might occur:

Virtual Background

If you have a virtual or blurred background enabled, Zoom will generally attempt to show the most central person if there is more than one in frame. When two or more people are close together, it will often merge them into the unblurred part of the image, but even that can be spotty. I’d recommend turning off blur and virtual backgrounds if both of you will be on camera.

Low Light

The other scenario is if you are in a low light situation, a relatively dark room with not much light. Zoom will generally attempt to enhance the video to show a human figure, and – similar to the blur and virtual camera situation – enhance two people close together, but only one if they are separated. The only real fix for this situation is to increase the lighting, making sure to add light that shines on your faces from the front, not so much from above or behind.
