Cannot use new business line

I just bought the basic phone plan for my small 1 person business. The purpose is to have a virtual phone # for the business that I can use on my personal cell phone to avoid mixing business/personal. For some reason the setup gave me an Extension - not needed, this prevents clients from calling me (it's stupid to require random callers to need to know the Ext #. It should just be a straight pass through call). Using the Zoom Workplace app on my android phone - try to make a call and I get this error message "Sorry, the requested service is not available in your calling plan". What the hell? I literally only bought this "Phone Service Plan" plan because it said it could be used as a virtual phone for my business. This should not be this difficult to setup and use.

2nd problem - using the Zoom Workplace app, I cannot figure out how to setup/record the Voicemail. this should not be rocket science. If this is an exclusive option for the Desktop application it's dumb because not everyone has a headset to record voice. It needs to be an option to use/setup WITHIN THE APP. what am I missing???

Hello Cole,

To clarify, the idea of an extension is for internal to internal dialing within the same account. You will get an extension regardless of your setup, even with one line in your account. That extension will go hand in hand with your public facing telephone number. Do you have a public facing number? If not, please go to phone numbers in your Zoom web portal and click add. The process will allow you to pick a number based on your desired location (city and various area codes).

You can setup voicemail in two different manners. Either through the Zoom web portal which allows a greater set of tools to do text to speech and with different voices, you can also upload a prerecorded file for your voicemail greeting. The other option would be to dial into voicemail (*86) enter in your PIN and access the menu to record your greeting.

Below is a quick start link for Zoom phone if you need additional resources. Youtube is also a very good source for starting with Zoom phone and learning the basics.

Support reached out and we got it resolved. Had to unbind the # from the receptionist and bind it to myself. Not a self intuitive resolution, but it's fixed now

hi coleb,

From your desktop, go to Zoom.us and signin with your user id and password.  This will bring you to the Zoom Portal.  Go to Admin->Phone System Management->Auto Receptionist->Route to:

Select Route to User and select your name as the user.

This will route incoming calls to your main company number to your user extension.

For your voice mail greeting, from Zoom Portal, go to Personal->Phone->Settings->Greeting & Leave Voice Mail.  Select Edit, Add Audio.  You will have three options for your recording.  Text to Speech, Upload and Record by Computer.  IMO, the easiest option is Text to Speech.
