With AI-driven features becoming more common in video conferencing tools, Zoom has been rolling out AI-powered meeting summaries and smart notes. Does anyone know if Zoom plans to expand this feature to all users, including free accounts, or will it remain limited to enterprise and pro plans? For those who have used AI-generated summaries, how accurate and useful have they been for your team? Let’s discuss!

Generative AI requires a tremendous amount of compute and is killing the planet (one source: https://news.mit.edu/2025/explained-generative-ai-environmental-impact-0117#:~:text=Rapid%20developm....)
From a cost/development perspective, it barely makes sense for Zoom to keep free accounts a thing - if users have tried and enjoy the product, it makes sense to start paying for it so that the company can continue to pay its developers, support staff, etc. I would not be surprised if AI-summarization remained a paid-only feature, but Zoom has already proven itself to be very generous by keeping free accounts alive this long.

As for usefulness - it's a mixed bag. Models continue to evolve and improve, but they're not as helpful or accurate as marketing fluff would suggest. Certain customers have found the feature to be a life-changer - I have not.

Also worth mentioning that a large number of enterprises, especially those in financial/legal sectors, have been asked by legal/compliance teams to turn these features off entirely - no exceptions.
