iCal Integration No Longer Works

Markopolis

As of this week Zoom no longer automatically prompts to add to the iCal calendar I've had connected to our account for over a year.

It said I had to sync a calendar, I went online - where there is no longer an iCal option (used Google instead since the email for that calendar is registered there) and it did not stick - endless loop.

What the heck is going on here and will this be repaired or returned to previous state so that I don't have to manually copy and paste the invite info into an iCal invite over and over again now?

It worked for me, but I needed to update Zoom via the toolbar dropdown menu:  "Zoom Workplace/Check for Updates".  It took a couple tries for the update to actually run, but keep hitting "Retry" when you get the Error message...

Same problem. Zoom used to automatically create an ical event to which I could add meeting content and invitees. Now, this is not possible. I do not plan to add another App to perform this simple/basic/essential step. If it not resolved, I will likely drop Zoom and find another service that supports ical integration.

Someone on another forum posted this and it worked for me:

I opened Zoom on my desktop Chrome browser and logged in.  Scrolled down past the "personal" section to the Admin (I'm the admin since it's only me).  These choices didn't appear in my Personal section.  I Opened Account Management under the Admin heading and then Account Settings.  Across the top I went to the Mail & Calendar heading.  Under General, the first heading, I unchecked the second box, "Allow users to choose Zoom s their email service provider".  I left the other box checked (allow users to manage emails).  I locked this.  Then directly below, I turned off the Zoom Scheduler permission and locked that.  Then below that, I turned off the Calendar and Contacts Integration  and locked that.  Then I logged out of the desktop and opened my zoom app on my Mac.  I scheduled a zoom call and it popped up on my Apple Calendar as it used to.  Have no idea if this is what fixed it or if it is permanent, but it works for now.  Good luck!

Unfortunately no luck for me

Thanks - sadly I tried that but it didn't work for me 😠

I have found a workaround (multi-step - not impressed by Zoom) by selecting "other calendar" instead of iCal when setting up a meeting, and then clicking "Open" - it seems to default to my iCal again.

Works for me too.

@zoom If this works, why not just make the iCal option do this?

Makes me think this is a bug rather than design.

Please can you fix?

Did not work for me. 😤

YES!! Thank you!!!!

This method appeared to work for me until I realized the iCal event had the wrong date and time (I schedule things in several timezones in the US and Australia). Sure is annoying that something that has worked since 2020 has just stopped working.

Magic! Thanks Laura, that worked for me too - phew!

Did anyone get the memo?!

I definitely didn't.

Is this Apple being an A hole? Surely they wouldn't cut out the volume of Mac users out of their market for no reason. Much of the design industry depends on Mac.

It is clear to me that the people at Zoom have no sense of urgency about nor desire to fix the iCal problem.  I remember the movie Bug's Life and the grasshoppers did whatever they pleased to the ants until the ants figured out they had the power.  Well, this ant is taking his money to another platform when my annual membership expires.  Zoom will not notice nor care.

Zoom, what's the status of this issue?

Seems Zoom is determined to follow Skype into oblivion.

It is beyond my comprehension why Zoom would not have addressed this in their "improved" platform or conversations with Apple. Now I have to use some rogue calendar -- or worse Google -- to come in the back door on getting meetings scheduled in my calendar?  How inconvenient ...at best. I thought my Teams was difficult platform to use -- looking better now.

I think it may be fixed - Zoom iCal integration worked for me multiple times today creating a new event. Is this true for anyone else or just a fluke??

WAIT.  DID THEY FIX IT?????

I just created a Zoom meeting and -- shock shock shock -- it popped onto my iCal like it used to!!

Not fixed for me. Running MacOS Sequoia 15.6.1 (24G90)

It worked for me, but I needed to update Zoom via the toolbar dropdown menu: "Zoom Workplace/Check for Updates". It took a couple tries for the update to actually run, but keep hitting "Retry" when you get the Error message...

Thanks for the suggestion. I will give it a try. In the meantime, I have been using Teams, and although it is not as good as Zoom, at least the calendar easily integrates.

That works! installed the latest update just now. Like magic - iCal works again! I'd thank Zoom for fixing it but am concerned  that it stopped working in the first place. Regression testing of new releases needs some work. Thanks all!

Hello @ton70out and @WLOATSBL,

Thank you for confirming the new update works for the iCal integration. I'm marking it as a solution for more visibility.

Have you heard of Zoom AI Companion?

Thanks. This worked for me.

I just updated to the new version and it has returned to the functionality we previously had.  Thank you for fixing.  I am hoping Apple users are better represented in future software "improvements".
