hi @Martin13

What type of paging feature is required, i.e. thru desk phone speakers, thru wall mounted speakers, zoom cloud paging or multi-cast paging in local area network?

These hp poly support docs may assist in setting up multi-cast paging.

From chatgpt:

1) Core paging/PTT parameters (put in your provisioning template)

<!-- Enable one-way Group Paging and subscribe to groups -->

<ptt.pageMode.enable>1</ptt.pageMode.enable>

<!-- Example: subscribe to groups 1 and 2, allow receiving -->

<ptt.pageMode.group.1.subscribed>1</ptt.pageMode.group.1.subscribed>

<ptt.pageMode.group.1.allowReceive>1</ptt.pageMode.group.1.allowReceive>

<ptt.pageMode.group.1.label>All-Hands</ptt.pageMode.group.1.label>

<ptt.pageMode.group.2.subscribed>1</ptt.pageMode.group.2.subscribed>

<ptt.pageMode.group.2.allowReceive>1</ptt.pageMode.group.2.allowReceive>

<ptt.pageMode.group.2.label>Front-Desk</ptt.pageMode.group.2.label>

<!-- Let pages break through during an active call (optional) -->

<ptt.pageMode.allowOffHookPages>1</ptt.pageMode.allowOffHookPages>

<!-- Enable PTT (two-way) and subscribe to channels -->

<ptt.pttMode.enable>1</ptt.pttMode.enable>

<ptt.channel.1.subscribed>1</ptt.channel.1.subscribed>

<ptt.channel.1.label>Ops</ptt.channel.1.label>

<ptt.defaultChannel>1</ptt.defaultChannel>

<!-- Optional: set PTT/page playback gain (–57..0; default –20) -->

<ptt.volume>-15</ptt.volume>

<!-- Emergency group/channel (defaults are 25; change if you want) -->

<ptt.pageMode.emergencyGroup>25</ptt.pageMode.emergencyGroup>

<ptt.emergencyChannel>25</ptt.emergencyChannel>

<!-- Multicast address/port used for BOTH Group Paging and PTT -->

<!-- Defaults are commonly 224.0.1.116:5001; change if needed -->

<ptt.address>224.0.1.116</ptt.address>

<ptt.port>5001</ptt.port>

2) What this does

  • Group Paging: one-way announcements to any subscribed page group 1-25. Phones play audio on speaker automatically. You choose which groups each phone listens to (ptt.pageMode.group.x.*). Kaas
  • PTT: walkie-talkie-style two-way on channels 1-25; set which channels a phone is on and pick a default transmit channel (ptt.pttMode.enable, ptt.channel.x.subscribed, ptt.defaultChannel). Kaas
  • Multicast socket: Same IP/port feeds both features (ptt.address, ptt.port). Poly’s guide explicitly notes paging/ptt use a multicast address; if you change it, ensure it’s in a valid IPv4 multicast range and not reserved. Kaas
  • Common defaults: Many Poly deployments use 224.0.1.116:5001 by default; confirm in your environment or set explicitly as above. CyberData Files+1

3) Useful options

  • Permit pages while user is on a call: ptt.pageMode.allowOffHookPages="1" (group paging) and ptt.allowOffHookPages="1" (PTT). Kaas
  • Block transmit on certain PTT channels (listen-only common-area phones): ptt.channel.x.allowTransmit="0". Kaas
  • Labels shown on the phone UI: ptt.pageMode.group.x.label and ptt.channel.x.label. Kaas

4) How users send a page

  • From the phone UI: use the Group Paging app/icon (one-way) or PTT for two-way. (Admins must enable these features; see params above.) Kaas

5) Notes/tips

  • Zoom Phone vs. Multicast: Zoom has its own cloud paging. If you’re provisioning multicast on the phones, don’t mix it accidentally with Zoom Paging Groups for the same users—behavior can confuse end-users during active calls. Zoom+1
  • Network: Ensure multicast is allowed across the VLANs/switches (IGMP snooping, querier, etc.).
  • Codec: Keep the sender/receivers aligned (G.722 is common with Poly + CyberData). HP Support Community

6) Primary references

  • Poly Edge E-Series Admin Guide (PVOS 8.2.x): parameter names and examples for Group Paging & PTT, multicast address/port, emergency group/channel, off-hook behavior. Kaas
  • Defaults for multicast socket (handy if you inherit phones): 224.0.1.116:5001. CyberData Files+1

Paging is natively supported in Zoom with the Poly Edge Series phones. No need to fiddle with templates. See link below.
