Zoom Meeting and Audio Settings Window Closes Immediately

I'm experiencing an issue where my Zoom meeting window closes immediately when I start a meeting. Additionally, when I open Zoom settings and navigate to the Audio tab, the settings window also closes automatically.

My audio is working properly on other platforms such as Discord and WhatsApp calls, so this seems to be an issue specific to Zoom.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open Zoom and start a new meeting → The meeting window closes immediately.
  2. Open Zoom settings and go to the Audio tab → The settings window closes immediately.

Troubleshooting Steps I've Tried:

  • Restarted my computer
  • Reinstalled Zoom (latest version)
  • Checked for any conflicting applications
  • Updated my audio drivers

System Information:

  • OS: (Windows 11 Pro,  Build: 26100.3323)
  • Zoom Version: (6.3.11 (60501))

I have exactly the same problem and have spent hours trying to correct it. I have Windows 11, AMD Radeon Graphics. The Zoom Workplace app opens fine, but the minute I start a meeting, the meeting screen flashes on my monitor, then disappears. Then it flashes on for another half-second before giving up. Same problem in Zoom settings, when I access the audio settings, the settings screen immediately disappears. No other settings cause the disappearing screen than audio. I have no such problems if I use my web browser for Zoom, or if I use my laptop Zoom app, also Windows 11. My problem is that I host zoom meetings often on my desktop, and Zoom on my browser loses multiple options and screens.
I have:

1. Uninstalled and reinstalled Zoom

2. Restarted my computer

3. Made sure the Zoom app is updated to latest version

4. searched through multiple security and firewall settings to make sure Zoom, the microphone and the video are enabled.

5. Updated my graphics card and checked security settings on it

6. Done tens of device checks to make sure of updated drivers.

7. Done multiple Google and AI searches. This is the first post that replicates my issue.

This all happened after I returned from a three-week trip. I updated the Zoom Workspace app before running it and haven't found a way to roll back the update. I'm guessing it's a glitch (perhaps with AMD?) in the update, which works fine on my laptop (Intel).

I'd really appreciate help!

Thanks,

Von

its happening to me too on a intel based windows 10 pro. last week perfectly fine then overnight it started crashing and not just when I try to join a meeting  but just trying to open up the sound setting in the zoom settings gui. It happens every time I select "audio". it crashes the settings window. my guess the meeting window crashing and the settings window crashing are both because of a bug in audio settings of the last update.
Can we PLEASE get bug fix asap? or at least give us a way to roll back the update.

I'm also running into the same problem and found out that it has something to do specifically with the mic and not the speakers (idk if this is the case with everyone) because when you try to test mic & speakers, the speakers work but once you get to testing the mic it closes the entire meeting. I've tried searching for driver updates for my mic (Maono AU-A04) and found none but some unnecessary upgrades to the mic but it didn't fix the issue. Additionally, it seems that the meeting is still running in the background because when I tried restarting or rejoining my own meeting, it prompts me to end the last meeting.

I've just now found a fix to the problem but again I'm not sure whether this will work with everyone but try this:

1. Go to your Control Panel

2. Search up "Manage Audio Devices"

3. Disable all other mics except for the one you're using
4. Now with the mic you have enabled, right click it, and go into "properties"

5. At the top, go to the tab that says "Advanced"

6. Then click the drop-down below "default format:" and you will see 2 or 3 values like "(1 or 2 channel, 16 or 24 bit, ######Hz)"

7. Choose an option that is below "48000 Hz" I haven't tried other values that are higher but this frequency works

I have the same problem and the solution that you provided works! Thank you for the time you have spent to troubleshoot this problem 👍

I followed your suggestions but did not work for me

thanks though

Phillip - your answer was just what I needed. Thank you!
My menu titles and settings were a bit different, but same idea:
1. Search "Sound settings"

2. Click the "Recording" menu, select your input microphone and click "Properties"

3. Click "Advanced", then drop-down menu

4. Lower from higher quality down to "2 Channel, 16 bit, 96000 Hz (Studio Quality)"

5. Click "Apply" and test your Zoom audio settings. Solved!

6. If 96000 Hz doesn't do it, lower the quality further. I doubt that even a trained ear can discern the quality difference over Zoom. It mostly hinges on mic quality.

Made an account to like this! My microphone was on 1 channel, 24 bit, 192000 hz. As soon as I changed it below this, my zoom meetings don't crash anymore and I can open my audio settings too. I tested with all of the channels and 96000 hz was the highest I was able to go but everything below that also works. Thank you so much! 👍

You can try this to fix this issue temporarily:
1. In your windows bar search up "Control Panel"

2. Within the control panel search "Manage Audio Devices", click on that option and don't click "SOUND"

3. Go to "Recording" found at the top of the pop-up

4. Right click on all devices that isn't being used and disable all of them

5. Now with the device you're using and kept enabled, right click and go into its "Properties".

6. Go to "Advanced" found at the top

7. Under "default format:" there is a drop-down, click it and you should see various options that look like "(1 or 2 channel, 16 or 24 bit, ######Hz)

8. Chose an option that has 96000Hz or lower.

9. Then click Apply

For some reason any 6 digit frequency is not allowed in zoom meetings. ALSO, don't forget to change back to the higher frequencies after the bug has been fixed if you prefer.

I tried again but this time I unplugged all external mics and followed your steps for the web cam microphone only and it worked. It just bums me out that I cannot use my high quaility anymore. I hope this fix this soon. thanks for the workaround
