Hi @Groundzero thank you for posting for the first time and welcome to the Zoom Community!

I'm sorry to hear you're facing trouble converting your recording. I know tech hiccups can be frustrating.

The "Failed to Convert Recording" error can pop up for various reasons, but let's try to resolve it step by step.

Here's what you can do:

  1. Sign Out and Restart: Start by signing out of Zoom on both the web and desktop applications. After that, give your machine a restart.

  2. Manual Conversion Attempt: Once your machine is back up, sign back into the Zoom app. Follow these steps to convert the recording manually:

    • Open the Zoom desktop client.
    • Go to the "Meetings" tab.
    • Click on the "Recorded" tab.
    • Find the meeting with the recording you want to convert.
    • Click "Convert."

Let me know if that helps!

Have you heard of Zoom AI Companion?

None of these options have worked. Is there anything else I can try?

Did you find a resolution to this?

I just has the same thing last night 🙄

Please update the thread with any technical solutions - as it stands I cannot get in touch w a human to resolve this

this solution doesn't work. I am getting cutout when I click on convert zoom file . it shows for microseconds that it's converting then stops or shows me that the file is from external source hence cannot be converted

Did you ever get this to work? I recorded a podcast interview and I cannot get mine to convert. I tried everything listed below, but nothing has worked. HELP!

Hi,

Are you able to see the double click files under the folder? when you double click it, nothing happened?

If so, please copy the two double click files and pasted them to a new created folder,  then double click one of them again.

Regards

This issue has not been resolved and I am now missing an extremely important recording. Is there a support rep who can look into my account to see what happened?

I just had this issue tonight and zoom offers literally zero human support, I already have a pro account and I am even willing to pay more money and I am not seeing a way to upgrade for human support... To make matters worse.... The recording was extremely consequential and important and there is no way to find it. I am both enraged and concerned and have no way of getting answers

when you stop a recording while in the meeting you get a pop up that says the recording will start converting when you end the meeting. if you just end the meeting without stopping the recording first you should have seen a pop up showing a status bar converting the recording. if you just quit Zoom or restart/shutdown the computer then you are presented the 2 unconverted files. What worked for me once was to fully quit zoom then double click then double click the file. it should open your zoom and start to convert. if this doesnt work open a ticket with Zoom support.

i also looked through a reddit forum about failed double click to convert files. its from a few years ago. i will paste the workaround that worked for them.

I got a workaround from Zoom Support when I was troubleshooting an identical issue for a client. This will probably work for you too.

  1. Start a new meeting and start a local recording.

  2. After a few seconds stop the recording. DO NOT end the meeting yet.

  3. Find the new folder that contains the new recording.

  4. Copy and paste the double_click_to_convert files from your previous meeting into this new folder.

  5. End your current meeting.

  6. Now try to open the double_click files in the new folder. They should all convert.

Essentially the issue seems to be that a meeting might not end and close out properly and so the recorded files can’t be processed because it’s as if the meeting is still in progress. Starting a new meeting and ending it should then allow files in the new recording folder to convert correctly.
