Bug 1 = The flatpak app provided at https://flathub.org/apps/us.zoom.Zoom does not open on a fresh install of Linux Mint 21.3 (Ubuntu 22.04). I also just tried to open it on a fresh Ubuntu install and nothing happens
It is possible to install Zoom on via a `.deb` file from the website.
Bug 2 = During meetings, normally the mute button has a gauge that shows users that their mic is working when they speak. However, this has not worked on Linux since I started using it over a year ago. Sometimes this means I end up ignoring people while joining a meeting late and clicking through the audio menus. Sometimes the up arrow to get to the audio menu is unresponsive.

It should be fixed now for the flatpak, see here for additional information: https://github.com/flathub/us.zoom.Zoom/issues/437
You can also upvote (thumbs up reaction) https://github.com/refi64/zypak/issues/41 this here to get the new Zoom version that was causing issues potentially updated properly working in the flatpak sooner to show you are affected by that.
A general alternative is also to use the snap version.

Thank you @xuiqzy
I updated the app via flatpak as instructed. It would not open. So I restarted the machine. Then I tried to open it again and got the bug report popup. The app has successfully launched. Although I have not tested it in a meeting.

From my experience the best way to install Zoom on a Ubuntu machine is to download the .deb file and then follow the procedure here to get rid of the ibus dependency: https://hashman.ca/zoom/

@layne_sadlerYes, I also still get the bug report message every time I open the current version, but meetings work fine for me. Sometimes when it switches to the small preview window of the video / screen share of the other person, I cannot get it to the big view again, but that is probably an unrelated bug.
@mxnThanks for the information. The blog post is from nearly 4 years ago, did you try recently if this is really still an issue?

A different bug:
There appears to be no way for a meeting participant to turn off animated emojis that fall through the chat. It is an accessibility issue that should be controlled by each participant individually, not a meeting host.
For example, every time someone types "Happy Birthday" in the chat, my chat window is cluttered with lots of falling cake emoji. I want it GONE.
(I've seen "solutions" indicating there may be a way to do this with non-Linux versions of the application.)
