iCal Integration No Longer Works

Markopolis

As of this week Zoom no longer automatically prompts to add to the iCal calendar I've had connected to our account for over a year.

It said I had to sync a calendar, I went online - where there is no longer an iCal option (used Google instead since the email for that calendar is registered there) and it did not stick - endless loop.

What the heck is going on here and will this be repaired or returned to previous state so that I don't have to manually copy and paste the invite info into an iCal invite over and over again now?

It worked for me, but I needed to update Zoom via the toolbar dropdown menu:  "Zoom Workplace/Check for Updates".  It took a couple tries for the update to actually run, but keep hitting "Retry" when you get the Error message...

Having the same problem.  iCal still shows as an option on the app on my Mac, but web portal doesn't show iCal as an option. This is bull!

iCal still shows as an option on the Mac but Zoom doesn't create/download a .ics file which would trigger the calendar update. This is new behavior in the last 3-6 months. Not sure when it actually started to stop work as before.

this is a bug for the ical option, could you pls upgrade the client version to the latest and try again, thanks

Now we do not support iCal bi-directional sync. The iCal API has many technical limitations, and we will support it in the future once most of these limitations have been addressed.

Is anyone at Zoom listening?

It looks like Zoom has removed the iCal sync option, and now it's stuck in a loop when trying to use Google Calendar instead. This change is frustrating , especially if you’ve used iCal smoothly for a long time. Hopefully, Zoom brings back the old option or fixes the new system soon so you don’t have to keep copying invites manually.

And when you try to engage the chat feature the robot can't understand you.  So basically the folks at Zoom just kicked all the Apple users off the island.

Classic case of changing something that works for so many and not caring about the problems it creates. Hey, how about a heads up so we could all make a decision on whether or not to continue paying for Zoom?!?  Change it back!

Zoom no longer supports direct iCal sync, which is why it's not showing and keeps looping. You’ll need to use Google or Outlook for now or manually copy invites.

I'm having the same issues - Why have Zoom removed something which makes life so easy for its users . . . Do they really think we're going to move all of our calendars from iCal to Microsoft?  Absolutely not - I have everything integrated and set up and I've already spent more than an hour trying to figure out what's gone wrong!  Thanks for breaking one of the better parts of your software.  I work alone so I don't need all of the new bells and whistles for the additional paid scheduler part of the app either.  Please put this functionality back?

Any word on anyone at Zoom fixing this and restoring functionality any time soon???

Ugh. Same. Suddenly all my integrations with iCal disappeared. Frustrating.

Anyone at Zoom listening to your user base?  Anyone complaining to any consumer bureaus or getting legal about it?

Here is what ChatGPT says:

If you want Zoom Scheduler to automatically populate Apple Calendar events, that’s not possible today. Your best bet is either manually importing the ICS invite or using a third-party scheduler that supports iCloud + Zoom integration.  If you're deeply integrated into Apple’s ecosystem and want smooth scheduling with Apple Calendar (iCal), your best alternative to Zoom is FaceTime, Google Meet, or Webex, depending on your needs.

I cancelled my subscription.

This is very frustrating. That was the main reason I was still using Zoom instead of Teams. Might cancel my subscription...

Zoom is not explaining WHY it has stopped supporting its Apple customers. I am very unhappy with Zoom now.  This will inconvenience not just me, but the clients I serve who also use iCal.

This is not Ok with me.  I feel manipulated by Zoom. I had to spend an hour figuring this out today.  I am now forced to either use the new Zoom calendar system, or go to Google Calendar instead.  —  I propose we all just migrate our video conferencing to Google Meet.  —  Zoom, you are not cool with me anymore.  —  SEE YOU ALL ON GOOGLE MEET, INSTEAD OF ZOOM.

Zoom, PLEASE bring back iCal integration.  I have been a Zoom user since its inception, and I am COMPLETELY trained that creating a meeting makes it automatically get added to my calendar.  It's utter chaos now, because my meetings now longer show up on my calendar!! There is a 8-step process to do it manually, but good heavens that is NOT an acceptable part of my workflow!

This is happening to me too - I've been smoothly using Zoom integrated with iCal for my business for over 4 years now. This is seriously disappointing - I'm considering ending my subscription.

Hello Community Members,

We do apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

While the “iCal” option is still visible in the Zoom macOS desktop app, we want to clarify that this feature has never been fully supported by Zoom. Although it may have worked for some users in the past, recent updates to Zoom and macOS have introduced inconsistencies with its functionality.

Because of this, our backend team is actively working on developing a fully supported integration to ensure a more reliable and seamless experience moving forward.

We’ll be sure to share more details as soon as we have updates available.

In the meantime, we recommend using one of our fully supported calendar integrations—Google Calendar, Office 365, or Exchange—for the most consistent performance.

Thanks again for your understanding and for choosing Zoom.

Have you heard of Zoom AI Companion?

This is insane to not only allow this to happen but also not inform your user base - fix it or I'm cancelling too.

Any idea of timescales please - it is ridiculous to expect us to completely change our calendar to another provider as an Apple user that would not work at all - and for most peole  they need to use just one calendar for everything so please get this sorted ASAP or  you are going to lose a lot of customers. Zoom is otherwise so much better than the other offerings for video calls etc that is something most of us would not be keen to do which just shows the level of annoyance and the degree of poor customer service from Zoom

Mark - this reply seems a little tone deaf to your customer base.  The amount of individuals and corporations that use iCal exclusively for calendar management is not insignificant.  Further those like me that are small businesses with no staff technical support choose products that make our systems and software integrate seamlessly.  Your suggestion that we migrate to a completely different system for calendar management because it's more convenient for Zoom REALLY comes off as callous and uncaring.

Please escalate this concern to the highest levels of your product development and customer service management.

Like many other small business users, I really dont want to move to TEAMS because I much prefer ZOOM - BUT please bring back iCal integration ASAP

So Zoom is dusting it's hands of Apple users? iCal is a major calendar for many users. Why would people building their operations around Apple systems move to a new calendar just to use Zoom? Simpler to switch video conferencing service.

Seems really backward given your push on AI Companion. 'Use our AI service to streamline processes, but manually stop to export then import the meeting details into your calendar when scheduling'.

Slick move Zoom. 🤦‍♀️

I would echo the frustration of this issue. Like many here we've been using this for years and now you're development team is taking us backwards. It would be good to know the timeline of this fix.

Why no answer from Zoom? We have been using and relying on Zoom through iCal and it is infuriating that they just cut that function off for no reason.  We have meetings to run and work to do and this high-handed approach by Zoom is a disgrace.

Would the good folks at Zoom be willing to change their calendar program to a different platform because one of your users asked you to?

Why would you disable something that is working for so many users??????

Appreciate the update but wish we'd had a head's up about this. I have cancelled my Zoom subscription for now. Not worth changing my calendar which is integrated with my family calendar, vacation dates, etc. I refuse to have two different calendars going for work and the rest of my life.

Ical Friends, consider Google Meet as an option. I have a colleague that uses this regularly and it is much simpler than Teams.

Zoom, please advise when this is fixed so we can decide how to move forward.

Thanks,

VW

Please do expedite restoring Zoom integration with iCal as soon as possible. It worked fabulously until a recent zoom update. The manual process wastes time, is error prone and not a productive or useful work-around. Thank you.

I too am frustrated that Zoom scheduler no longer syncs with iCal. Why not?

Use of iCal has been supported by Zoom for all of my Apple devices - and those of my clients - for *years*. We expect more of Zoom than to be shunted off to other calendar utilities.

Zoom, when may we expect this to be fixed?

Perhaps Zoom should consider a new Marketing or Sales leader?  Do you know your customers?  Or are you willing to just cast off anyone who uses Apple?

Dear Zoom - unless you re-instate apple calendar intregation, I will be cancelling my account, and demanding a refund.
