Hi there!

I've been hosting some webinars for some time. In our webinar format, we start with a 30 minute presentation before heading into an hour long Q&A. The challenge is the audience often asks questions during the presentation, whereas we're prefer for them to save them until the end.

Can we set up the Q&A so that it opens at a specific time? (ie after the 30 minute presentation is complete).

Or is there a way to turn the Q&A on after the presentation?

We are happy to send a separate email, I just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

Hi all,

I'm an English tutor and have just returned back to teaching online after the Christmas break. My webcam - which is internal - works fine for the first 5 minutes and then begins glitching like a VHS tape... and then returns back to normal... and then begins glitching again. I have tried uninstalling Zoom and updating all drivers. Any ideas? I do pay for Zoom too.

We have multiple panelists sort thru questions in the Q&A window during 45 minute presentations. We do not want them to send answers back to the attendees during the presentations but suggest panelists select questions and type out answers but not send the replies until our 30 minute questions and answers period.

Previously (Dec 2022) panelists could select multiple questions and their names would display under the selected questions so all the panelists.

Now, Zoom will only allow one question to be selected at a time. If you type in an answer but not send it, the answer will stay under the question for the panelist who typed that answer but none of our other panelists know an answer was typed out for that question.

What changed?

Dismissing questions in Zoom Webinar

Hi Hi all!

We host two large events via Zoom Webinars per year and are trying to better manage the QA window.

Can Zoom Webinar attendees see questions when dismissed?

Thanks!

I am having to give the following instructions to panelists and speakers who can't quickly and easily login to the events I am testing.

1. You will receive emails for each of the days of the conference.  If you are an attendee, as for example you will be for the Friday night keynote speaker, simply follow the link in your attendee email to the lobby of the Zoom Event.  As a presenter in a conference session, you will be able to participate in enhanced functionality not available to attendees.

  • Click on the “View Event” in your invitation email (located directly above the image.)
  • A browser window will open taking you to the homepage of our Zoom Event, (unless you are not logged in.)
  • You MUST log into a Zoom account associated with the email address that we have sent the notifications.
  • If you are not already logged in, then login to Zoom through your browser.
  • Once logged in you should see the “Presenter Training” event and a “Join Lobby” button.
  • You can join the lobby at any time 24 hours prior to the event.
  • Once you click “Join Lobby” your browser will prompt you to open the desktop application of Zoom.
  • Zoom Events only works on the desktop Zoom application and will not function in a browser.
  • So, click “Open Zoom Meetings”
  • Though you have logged into your browser based Zoom account, this does not mean that you have logged into your desktop application.

(IF you are already logged into your desktop Zoom skip the next steps)

    • Zoom desktop will prompt you to “sign in to join”
    • Close the “Sign in to join” pop-up window.
    • Click “sign in”
    • Sign in to your desktop Zoom application.

Why am I having to do all of this.  Why is it so hard for people to login to these events?

I have two questions regarding hosting a pre-recorded webinar:

  1. I will be sharing a video which will include slides (text + image) as well as a demo of on-screen software - should I disable the Optimize Video feature when building the Zoom event?
  2. I want attendees to only see the pre-recorded content on their screen and not the avatars of me and my co-host (we will be on mute and cameras off until the very end) - how can I do this? Having the avatars of us show up on screen takes away screen real estate and I want attendees to focus on the video.
