Extension Number

Hi, I am fairly new to zoom and while setting up the zoom phone, extension number #800 was assigned automatically. I am unable to understand the steps how to reset it or delete the extension number.

Any help or direction would help 🙂

Extension Number: Click Edit to change the extension number assigned to the phone user.
Note:

• Some extension numbers are special service numbers and cannot be used.
• Extension numbers can be 3 to 6 digits. If you require longer extension numbers, contact Zoom.
• If you have multiple sites and enabled site codes, the sum of the extension number and site code must be less than or equal to the maximum extension length.
• If you try to change the extension to one that's already in use, the error message will show the display name associated with the extension.

Hi there

I also recently joined Zoom and have a Zoom Phone number for just 1 user. 

I dont want people calling to have to use an extension number - by default it is 800 - how can I remove the need for an extension number?

Hi Nick,

You cannot remove an extension. However, external people can directly call you by the 10 digit number assigned to them.

Hi Nick,

That goes back to your Zoom phone requirement. Your zoom phone user will have an extension and can optionally be assigned a 10 Digit number so people can call them from outside the org. Is that the usage of Zoom phone for the user ? Below article shows how to manage phone numbers

I've been trying to set up the Zoom phone number, but I've encountered a persistent issue when selecting the extension. The same error message keeps appearing, and I'm not sure how to proceed. It's always saying "Something went wrong, please wait a moment and try again later." I tried to use different extensions but I kept on getting the same error message.

what zoom phone licenses are you using?

what zoom desktop client and version are you using?

please try zoom phone test.
