When I leave a meeting and close zoom, it stays running in the background and messes up audio for other apps. I have to force stop it from the app settings everyone a meeting finishes. This just started happening within the last month. Any help?

Since you did not state what device is being used I will assume a PC. If you clicked the "X" then you just CLOSED the window. You need to "SIGN OUT" using the client's menu.

Sorry, I could have been way more detailed.
This issue is occurring on my android phone, Samsung s23 ultra. The zoom app will open and I will attend the meeting, I hit "leave meeting" red button and it will appear that I left the meeting and the zoom app will close. When I then go to another app (i.e. spotify) to play audio, the audio is very muffled and soft. I found that the meeting I 'left' is still running somehow and the only way to close the meeting and zoom to stop running is to go to the app settings and 'force stop' the app. As soon as I do this, my audio works like normal and all is well. I will often "leave meeting" and the zoom app banner will still show in my notifications and I can't get it to close down until I force stop.
This started about a month ago, I have forever been able to just hit "leave meeting" and it wpuld actually end the meeting and zoom would close out. Now, the meeting doesn't close out even though it does close the screen, it seems to be still running in the background. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling zoom a few times.
Any other ideas with this further info?

It happens the same with me over a week ago. My android moto g power still has the notification that "meeting in progress" even after we finished and left the meeting. Then if at this time, if I connect a Bluetooth headphones, the sound doesn't come through the headphones, it keeps playing by the speaker of the phone. It messed up my audio. I have to uninstall the zoom app to get the sound back to normal. It has been happening for over a week.

Hello @Yaffar, @Khaidon23 and @clairep27,
Welcome to the Zoom Community! We're glad to have you here.
I'm sorry for the late response. May I know if this still happening if you try to press on recent apps button and slide to close Zoom?
2024-07-29 12:25 PM
Yes, I have tried that and all the other ways to close zoom and the only way to resolve the audio issue it is to force stop the zoom app.
2024-07-29 04:10 PM
Yes, I have tried the recent app button to close it, it doesn't work. It kept "Meeting in Progress" sign on, even the other side already closed the meeting because they are hosts. Moreover, my bluetooth audio will be messed up after the meeting on zoom, and sound only comes out from the phone speaker. If I need to use the bluetooth speaker, I have to delete Zoom and turn off the phone and turn on the phone again to be able to pair with bluetooth speakers. My phone is Moto G power, the latest update with android.

This thread's issue also occurs for me on my new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. It has been occurring since receiving the device on July 23rd, and continues to this day. The same issues, with the same resolution (I have Zoom's Meeting In Progress in my notifications as I type this)

Hi @MGSR, yes, it still happens, just had a meeting a couple hours ago and the issue persist, I had to force stop the app to return the sound to normal.

Hello @MGSR I am having the same issue with Android Moto 5G when I attend Zoom meeting I hit read "leave" meeting button and exit the meeting. The zoom camera still shows in the notification bar, no other audio works correctly. The zoom meeting still shows in progress if I try to go to recent apps and swipe to close. I have to go to settings and force stop or restart my phone. I tried to submit a support ticket and got an email saying I did not have an account.

This exact things has been happening on my Samsung s24 Plus for about a month. I leave a meeting and it still appears on my notification banner and I don't really leave the meeting. When I'm in a zoom meeting and get put in a breakout room I'm also not able to leave the breakout room and return to the main room. I end up having to uninstall the zoom app and reinstall every single time and I miss so much of the meetings due to this because it takes so much time and I have to explain myself to the people on the zoom. What can we do in the mean time until the glitch gets fixed???

I have same issue. Instead of unstained the app, go Into your phone apps list and you can find zoom and click force stop. Not ideal but faster than installing everytime. Google how to force stop for your device

This is happening on my Samsung S20FE as well. The zoom meeting keeps running in background even after ending it. This makes it impossible to join another meeting immediately.
@MGSR Do you have any update to this issue?
2024-08-28 12:25 PM
Hello there,
We're sorry for the wait. It is being worked on by our engineering team, and a new ticket has been created. We will inform you once there is an update.
For now, a workaround that we can advise is to force close the app in your app settings after the meeting.
We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.

Its been many months~ same issue still not yet resolve!
everyday after my team meeting having the same issue....
of my samsung device...

The team has taken two months without solving problems. I uninstall Zoom and will not use it anymore.

So there are many more Zoom users on their mobile phone, who have been facing this exact situation. Ever since I did the last app update, even after leaving the meeting, it will lag for a very long time, getting out of the meeting. After shutting off the app, I launch it again then I can log out of my zoom account. And like everyone else here in this thread, my mobile (Samsung S24Ultra) will state that mic is still in use by zoom. I can only get back my proper audio when I restart my phone. Been about 2 months now & seems to be taking a long time for you guys to fix this issue.
2024-10-20 02:26 PM
Happened to me with my Samsung A73 too. It's pretty dangerous to not realize it right away because my alarm couldn't go off and I missed an important event by two hours hence. I guess I learned it the hard way. 🙂
