All of a sudden I am experiencing video & audio delays, but my internet connection is fine. Any ideas?

I recommend the following:

1. Check for Updates

2. Use a wired ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi if possible.

3. Restart Zoom and Your Device

4. Test Your Internet Connection

5.Test your audio and video:

  • Go to Settings > Audio and Video to test and adjust settings.
  • Make sure the correct microphone, speaker, and camera are selected.
  • Disable HD video: Go to Settings > Video > Enable HD and uncheck it.

6.Check Permissions

  • On Windows: Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone/Camera and make sure Zoom is allowed to access these devices.
  • On Mac: Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab, and check Microphone and Camera settings.

7.Close Unnecessary Applications

8. Clear Zoom Cache

  • On Windows: Navigate to C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Zoom and delete the data folder.
  • On Mac: Navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/zoom.us and delete the data folder.
  • Restart Zoom after clearing the cache.

9. Check System Resources

  • On Windows, open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
  • On Mac, open Activity Monitor (from Applications > Utilities).
  • If Zoom is consuming too much, close other high-usage applications or restart your device

10.Review the Performance Metrics

Overall Meeting Status:

  • CPU Usage: Check the CPU usage under the General tab to see how much processing power Zoom is consuming.

Network (Ping, Latency, Packet Loss):

  • Go to the Network tab within the Statistics window.
  • Here, you’ll see details such as Latency (Ping), Jitter, and Packet Loss for both sending and receiving data.
  • High latency or packet loss can indicate network issues, leading to delays or poor quality.

Audio/Video Performance:

  • Under the Audio and Video tabs, you can monitor the bitrate and the amount of data being sent and received.
  • It also shows the current resolution of your video and frame rate, which are important for video quality.

11. Interpret the Data

  • Latency (Ping): Ideally, it should be below 100 ms for smooth performance. Higher values might cause delays.
  • Packet Loss: Should be minimal (close to 0%). High packet loss indicates network instability.
  • CPU Usage: If Zoom's CPU usage is too high, it might cause the app to lag, so consider closing other applications.
