All USB stops while using Zoom on a Linux laptop.

While using zoom on my linux laptop, the USB does not work.

It happens every time and I've figured out how to reproduce the symptoms.

If you use the method below, USB will stop working.

1. AMD laptop running Linux (my laptop model is Lenovo S340-14API R5 - Amd 3500u)

2. Start a meeting with two or more people through Zoom.

3. Hold the meeting for about 30 minutes or more (not sure about this)

4. Unplug the AC power from the laptop and enter battery mode.

5. All USB devices (e.g. mouse) stop working.

It happens not just once, but every time.

I always wake up in the middle of a meeting lasting more than 6 hours.

my system infomation.

Hi @supul

Seems it is related to the laptop's power management and USB settings. When you unplug the AC power and enter battery mode, the system stops responding to USB commands. This is specified by the error messages in the Linux log, such as "xhci_hcd 0000:04:00.3: xHCI host not responding to stop endpoint command" and "usb 1-3: USB disconnect, device number 2".

Can you check all these data points and see if this solving the issue

  1. Check the power management settings and ensure that the USB ports are not set to turn off when the laptop is running on battery power.
  2. Disable USB selective suspend, which can cause USB devices to stop working when the system is running on battery power.
  3. Check the USB device settings and ensure that they are properly configured.
  4. Try using a different USB port or a different USB device to see if the issue persists.
  5. Update the Linux kernel and USB drivers to the latest versions.

Warm Regards

Huma

Thanks for your response.

1. Other app or I have never had a problem since I usually take out the AC battery, and it still is.

2. Grub kernel commandline is

    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet udev.log_priority=3 usbcore.autosuspend=-1"

and

     $ cat /sys/module/usbcore/parameters/autosuspend   --> -1
3. I checked tlp.conf file.

  exam) USB_AUTOSUSPEND=0, USB_DENYLIST="24ae:2013", USB_EXCLUDE_BTUSB=1

4. I've tred All other usb port. but not woking all.

5. I've changed 6.6.19 to 6.1,  but same.

This only happens when using Zoom.

Seams that the issue is specific to Zoom and not a general USB issue.

Can you try the below to troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Check Zoom setting by Ensuring that Zoom is not set to disable USB devices or auto suspend.
  2. Disable Zoom's USB optimization feature that can cause issues with USB devices. To disable it, go to Zoom Settings > Advanced > Disable USB optimization.

Let me know the outcome - will try to fix this

Huma

Thank you for quick response.

I can't find the "Disable USB optimization" option.

There is no "Settings > Advanced" option in Linux zoom settings.

Please try this 1

1. Open the Zoom desktop app.
2. Click on the gear icon in the top right corner to open the Settings menu.
3. Scroll down to the "Audio" section.
4. Look for the "USB Audio" option and toggle it to "Off".

This should disable USB optimization for audio devices in Zoom on Linux.

please let me know the outcome

Huma

Thank you for quick response.

I can't find the "USB Audio" option.

There is no "Settings > Audio > USB Audio" option in Linux zoom settings.

It's "Linux ZOOM APP" NOT WINDOWS, MAC.

Thanks for the reply, but If you don't know Linux zoom, you don't need to answer.
