On April 16, between 2:25 P.M. ET and 4:12 P.M. ET, the domain zoom.us was not available due to a server block by GoDaddy Registry. This block was the result of a communication error between Zoom’s domain registrar, Markmonitor, and GoDaddy Registry, which resulted in GoDaddy Registry mistakenly shutting down zoom.us domain. Zoom, Markmonitor, and GoDaddy worked quickly to identify and remove the block, which restored service to the domain zoom.us. There was no product, security or network failure at Zoom during the outage. GoDaddy and Markmonitor are working together to prevent this from happening again.

I'm sent 5 recordings after a recorded presentation. Can someone tell me how the various formats for Zoom recordings are different?

Great question! I'm not sure why I can't find documentation that explains the file naming concepts behind their recordings, but it would be helpful. Because, if you're like me and do a bulk download of all recordings from a meeting, you have no idea from the file naming what is what. So, some time back I downloaded one recording at a time and watched and noted the file naming convention that was being used. Here are my notes... there are some variables that can show-up, such as the resolution numbers based on your subscription capability and the resolution of the largest screen share.

  • Recording_gvo = Gallery View version
  • Recording_1920x1080 = Shared Screen with Speaker View
  • Recording_gallery_1920x1080 = Shared Screen with Gallery View
  • Recording_avo = Speaker View version
  • Recording_as_1920x1080 = Shared Screen only recording
  • Recording.m4a = Audio only version
  • Recording_separate#.m4a = Isolated Audio only of an attendee
