Hi monroefischer,

1. Schedule a Zoom Meeting

Here’s how to set up a Zoom meeting with people in the United Kingdom:

Step-by-Step to Schedule a Meeting

  1. Log in to Zoom:

    • Go to the Zoom website and log in with your credentials. Alternatively, open the Zoom desktop or mobile app.
  2. Schedule a New Meeting:

    • In the Zoom web portal or app, go to the Meetings tab and click Schedule a New Meeting.
  3. Set the Date and Time:

    • When scheduling the meeting, make sure to set the correct time zone:
      • For UK participants, select (UTC +00:00) Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London time zone, or select London if you are scheduling on the app or web.
  4. Choose Meeting Options:

    • Choose whether you want the meeting to be recurring, if you want video/audio on by default, or if you prefer a waiting room feature.
  5. Send Invitations:

    • After scheduling, you will be given a meeting link.
    • Copy the invitation link and send it to your UK participants via email, message, or calendar invite.

2. Adjust for Time Zone Differences

  • The UK is in the GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) zone during winter months and the BST (British Summer Time) zone during the summer months (which is GMT +1).

  • If you're in a different time zone, Zoom automatically adjusts for time differences when you select a time zone for scheduling the meeting. Make sure to confirm the meeting time with your participants, considering daylight saving time changes if needed.

3. Join the Zoom Meeting

Once the meeting is scheduled, follow these steps to join the meeting:

  1. Click the Meeting Link:
    • Participants in the UK will simply click the link you sent them at the meeting time.
  2. Open Zoom:
    • If you don’t have the Zoom app installed, you can join directly through a web browser by clicking the link. Zoom will prompt you to download the app if necessary.
  3. Join the Meeting:
    • Once you’ve clicked the link, you’ll be placed into the meeting. You can use video and audio based on your settings.

4. Additional Tips for Zooming with the UK

  • Use Local Phone Numbers (if needed):

    • If participants prefer to join via phone, Zoom offers local dial-in numbers for different countries, including the United Kingdom.
    • When scheduling the meeting, Zoom provides a list of phone numbers based on participants' locations. You can also provide UK participants with the UK-specific dial-in numbers for easier access.
  • Test Your Zoom Setup:

    • If you're hosting from a different country, it’s a good idea to do a test meeting beforehand to ensure everything is working, especially if you’re new to Zoom or haven’t used it with international participants before.
  • Ensure Strong Internet Connection:

    • Make sure you and your UK participants have a stable internet connection to ensure the best video and audio quality during the meeting.

5. Time Zone Conversion Tools (Optional)

If you want to double-check the time differences, use online tools like Time Zone Converter to verify the meeting time in both your time zone and the UK.
