On April 16, between 2:25 P.M. ET and 4:12 P.M. ET, the domain zoom.us was not available due to a server block by GoDaddy Registry. This block was the result of a communication error between Zoom’s domain registrar, Markmonitor, and GoDaddy Registry, which resulted in GoDaddy Registry mistakenly shutting down zoom.us domain. Zoom, Markmonitor, and GoDaddy worked quickly to identify and remove the block, which restored service to the domain zoom.us. There was no product, security or network failure at Zoom during the outage. GoDaddy and Markmonitor are working together to prevent this from happening again.

Hi Zoom,

Please confirm if we can upgrade the Zoom client version for user groups via the Zoom portal. Additionally, kindly share the necessary settings and steps required for this process.

Thanks

Hi

hope this helps:

1. Using Zoom Device Management (ZDM)

  • If your organization uses Zoom Device Management (ZDM), you can enforce client version updates for specific groups of users or devices.
  • Navigate to Admin → Device Management → Zoom Clients.
  • Here, you can define update policies for specific groups.

2. Using Group Policy Settings

  • Go to Admin → Account Management → Account Settings.
  • Under Zoom Client Updates, you can define policies for forced updates.
  • You can also configure these settings on a group level by navigating to: Admin → User Management → Groups → Select Group → Settings.

3. Using Mass Deployment via MDM/ GPO

  • If you have Managed Devices (Windows/macOS), you can enforce updates via:
    • Group Policy (GPO) for Windows
    • MDM (e.g., Intune, JAMF) for macOS
  • Deploy policies that enforce minimum client versions.

4. Using Zoom’s Auto-Update Feature

  • You can enable Auto-Update settings at the group level to ensure users always have the latest version.
Let's be realistic. Let's do the impossible!
