Resetting Verizon branded Yealink T54W phones

We dropped our Verizon OneTalk for Zoom Workplace and I am having some issues reprovisioning the YeaLink t54W phones we got from Verizon. I can get it online and activate the webservice on the phone, and upload the package to it, but once I reboot and let it connect to the network, its reloading the old Verizon ROM. 

Tried factory resets to no avail. 
My Implementation specialist from Zoom has been very little help in this. (her schedule is at least a week out from when I try to schedule an appointment)

 

Anyone know if a process to get these phones online??

Hi OldNoob,

 

Sounds like Verizon still has your Yealink phones registered to Verizon.  after you factory reset your Yealink phone, the phone connects to Yealink.  Since the phone may still be registered at Yealink to Verizon, Yealink sends the phone to Verizon for provisioning.

 

The solution is to get Verizon to remove these phones from its Yealink provisioning account.  If you still have access to your Verizon account, you can probably fix the issue by removing these Yealink phones from your Verizon account. 

 

Some phone manufacturers will support changing voip providers.  You can try opening a support ticket with Yealink to remove the phones from Verizon.  Yealink will probably want proof that you physically possess the phones (photo of phones with model, mac and serial number) and legally own them (receipt).

 

Another but less satisfactory approach is to use zoom assisted provisioning.  After you complete the assisted provisioning, you can restart the phone and it will get provisioning from zoom.  This will work.  Do NOT factory reset the phones.  If you ever factory reset the phones, they will go back to Verizon provisioning until Verizon removes them.

Hi OldNoob.  Did you have any luck resetting this?  I recently purchased 15 T54Ws from a company that used them with Verizon OneTalk.  12 reset just fine, and have them in Zoom now.  3 of them are stuck at trying to connect to Verizon Business OneTalk.  Tried updating firmware via web interface on 1 of them, and it keeps reverting to the old Verizon fw.  These 3 phones have 96.85.21.21 and .15.

ask the company that you bought the T54Ws from to remove them from their VZ OneTalk account. alternatively, ask the seller to provide T54Ws which have been removed from VZ OneTalk and have been factory reset.

 

once removed, provision the T54Ws on your zoom phone account and yealink will then point these T54Ws to zoom for provisioning. 

 

factory reset the T54Ws and zero touch provsioning will provision the T54Ws to your Zoom Phone account.

Were you able to get this fixed? I have Verizon branded T54Ws that I am also trying to switch over. I can't seem to provision them at all, no matter what I try. Verizon support assured me that the devices are no longer connected to our Verizon account. 

 

I can't upgrade the firmware, the phone says configuration failed. When I factory reset, it doesn't auto provision to Zoom.

 

I am at a loss. Any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately, the ROM that is installed from Verizon cannot be removed. There supposedly an app out there that would let you remove it, but I have not found it. 

Yealink replied to a email i sent them saying there was no way to remove the Verizon ROM.

You may be able to use assisted provisioning. 

 

First, add the Yealink phone to your Zoom devices and assign the Yealink phone to a user.

 

Second, make note of your Yealink phone IP address and do a Reset to Factory Setting.  After your Yealink completes initializing and gets its IP address and BEFORE your Yealink phones tries to contact Yealink and Verizon for provisioning, disconnect the Yealink phone and your PC from the internet to prevent the phone from getting provisioning data from Verizon.  Both your Yealink phone and your PC must be on the same network switch.

 

Third, sign into your Yealink phone from your pc using default admin/admin. 

 

Fourth, go to settings->auto provision->Server URl and enter https://provyp.zoom.us/api/v2/pbx/provisioning/Yealink/t54w plus other values as specified by Yealink assisted provisioning guide. 

 

Fifth, reconnect your pc and Yealink phone to the internet and click Auto Provision Now.  The phone should get its provisioning from the Zoom provisioning server.

 

Sixth, your Yealink phone should now be provisioned to your user as specified in the first step.

 

After completing these steps, do NOT reset to factory default. If Yealink still thinks the phone is associated with Verizon, Yealink will send the phone over to Verizon for provisioning.
