Waiting room with wrong name

I just had a meeting where people had to register to be a part of it. Several times it said that I was in the meeting room waiting ot be let in. I thought this was weird since I was already in the room. It turned out that every time it was a participant that wrongly had my name. This meant that only 2 people came to the meeting. What happened and how can I change those in the future so people have their own names when signing into the meeting?
