Hey, people are logged in into their basic account. I invite them as interpreter, they receive a link with url...... double clicking does not result into them entering as interpreter

If you are the Host of the meeting, you should be able to tell if the interpreters are connected in your meeting by clicking the Interpretation tab, if you see any of your interpreters are in, you may then click Start.
If that doesn't work and still they are not recognized as the interpreter, you need to make sure that your interpreters are signed in with their correct Zoom account or using the correct email.
Another workaround would be to invite them during the meeting, that will surely solve your issue.
Here is the link that I found regarding the language interpretation: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360034919791-Using-Language-Interpretation-in-your-meeting...

Greetings: I am unable to add a meeting participant as an interpreter, after the meeting has begun. When I as host go to the interpreter function, she does not show as an option to select. Other meeting participants do show as options. She has a gmail address and a Zoom account herself, although we were using my Zoom account. We tried having her leave the meeting and come back in, but that did not help. Although I have a Pro Zoom account, I am not permitted to contact customer support, which is INSANE, so perhaps someone here has a solution. Thank you.

Greetings: I am still unable to add some people as interpreters after we are in the meeting. They show as meeting participants, but when I open the interpreting window, they do not show up as people who could be added as interpreters. It has been suggested that I re-install the Desktop app. Does anyone else have other suggestions? This is a huge problem for our meetings.
