Most meeting hosts prefer everybody to be muted during the meeting unless they are the current speaker. Then when the current speaker is finished speaking, they will want that person to mute themselves, again. During a meeting if the host sees or hears open microphones they will commonly and quickly mute them, so they don't become a distraction to the whole meeting.

It is commonly assumed and preferred that the meeting participants manage their microphone appropriately and themselves. The simplest way for a speaker to quickly unmute themselves is to press-and-hold down the spacebar on your keyboard. Then when you're finished speaking you can simply release the spacebar and it will mute you again.

Hope this helps.
