Disable flashing active speaker green rectangle

Is there any way possible to disable the flashing green rectangle that indicates the active speaker? I have a visual impairment that makes it hard to focus my eyes on flashing lights. I have tried gallery and speaker view, pinning the speaker, etc., but I can't find anyway around minimizing flashing light on the screen. I've been opening four browser windows to arrange over the edges of a pinned person's video to cover the flashing rectangle, but it is very hard to stay engaged on calls when I can't see everyone, and I have to continuously cover the zoom window with the four browser windows each time I need to mute/unmute or click something else on the zoom window.  I know accessibility for all disabilities is not always possible, but this should be a simple setting to turn off. Thank you!

Welcome to the Zoom Community, @bluebird4.

I've thoroughly checked various options, and I don't think it's currently possible to do that.  Please consider creating a Feedback Report to Zoom developers asking for this setting to be controlled from the Accessibility or Video tabs of the Settings window.  Encourage others to make the same request!

Submit feature requests and other product feedback according to the process described here:

If you do not see the Give Feedback tab, follow the process indicated to enable the feedback feature on your account.

Thank you! I submitted feedback and asked my spouse to do the same. I appreciate the advice.

Hi Zoom Team,

I am encountering a specific issue while using Zoom’s “Portion of Screen” share feature on a large 34-inch monitor.

Issue Description:
When I share my entire screen, website content often appears too small, with large empty spaces on both sides. To address this, I use Share > Advanced > Portion of screen to select only the relevant area.

However, when sharing a portion of the screen, there is a persistent green border around the shared area, which helps visualize and adjust the region being shared. Unlike when sharing the entire screen, this border does not disappear after a few seconds.

The main issue:
The green border is much thicker (wider) at the top compared to the left, right, and bottom sides. Because of this, when sharing a browser window, the thick green border at the top hides my browser tabs, making it difficult to switch between them during a meeting.

What I’ve Tried:
Disabling Settings > Share Screen > Show green border around my shared content does not remove this border when sharing a portion of the screen.

Request:
Please make the border at the top consistent in width with the other sides, or provide an option to hide or minimize the border after a few seconds, similar to what happens when sharing the entire screen.

Attachments:
I am attaching screenshots to help illustrate:

  • My screen share and settings
  • The visible green border covering browser tabs

Questions:

  1. Is there a setting I am missing to adjust or hide the green border when sharing a portion of the screen?
  2. Is this border intended to behave differently for “Portion of screen” sharing, or is this a known issue?
  3. Are there any workarounds that would allow access to browser tabs while using this sharing mode?

I appreciate your attention to this issue and would request this enhancement be prioritized, as it significantly impacts productivity when presenting content. Please let me know if further details or logs are needed.

Best regards,
Himanshu
