Thanks for the quick and thorough reply

Ah - so casual users who need the odd flexibility of an hour-long meeting have to buy the whole package?  Oh well, that's me off to RingCentral instead.  Shame, Zoom was otherwise very good!

I've had the same problem. A pop-up window said to wait one minute, I waited, and it still didn't work. Then I come here and find it's not one minute, but nine.

It's too long to wait in between the 40-minute meetings of basic accounts. That long a wait can become a delicate subject for either or both sides of the meeting.

But according to the above post, if someone doesn't want this gap, they should upgrade to a paid account.

And I get the business side, to an extent. Sadly, this, in a way, forces people to get said PAID account. And note, I used the word/verb FORCE. Though from your perspective is a ("soft") ENCOURAGEMENT.

BUT... Now, this goes for "the powers that be." In a paid account, there is no gap. People can keep talking/working seamlessly without any interruption. Good, great for them. For the people who CAN AFFORD it. And you might ask, "What is the problem? Our rates are "affordable." Everyone gets what they want.

But the rates, in relation to currency exchange, will make things a bit or a lot tougher. Case by case, we can't generalize. You might actually think about people like me (and for SURE, there are MANY) who need, not choose, NEED, to use the Basic account for a reason. But it's not really your business if some people need to economize wherever possible. For some of us who need this tool, paying for it can be prohibitive. Other bigger needs have (and even if sounding redundant, need) to come before. And I'm happy for whatever person reads this, if they're not in that situation.

The thing is, and here comes my idea of a middle ground: Paid accounts have a seamless session without interruption. Could the basic account holders have a shorter gap in between the 40-minute meetings. Say, somewhere between 3 to 5 minutes?
