issue in new chat update

After the recent update, it’s become very difficult to manage chat messages during my Zoom sessions. Earlier, I could easily see all private messages sent by participants to the host in one place. Now, I need to select each participant to view their message, which is not practical when handling large groups.

As a teacher managing big online classes, this change has made it much harder to interact with students. I kindly request Zoom to bring back the previous chat behavior or provide an option for the host to view all private messages together.

Same problem here

I have classes with 100 students ! It's just impossible to read each private message this way.
It was so much better before.

You have to get back the OLD chat strategy for Private messaging, this is not practical for online teaching at all

Seconding all this, this update has been wildly frustrating for my organization (as everyone else is sharing, also online teaching). Also experiencing issues with Android users being unable to send chats during meetings now.

I am also an online teacher and this update has made it extremely difficult to manage the chat feature in a way that meets my needs! It's very time consuming and disruptive to my class flow when I have to click on each learners name to see messages when the chat is set to "host only" mode. I need to be able to see all those messages in one thread so that I can keep up with them and respond as needed. Please give us a way VERY SOON to revert back to the single chat thread for the "host only" chat option. Thanks!

This is unprofessional, unreasonable, and unacceptable. Please bring back the old chat feature. I am startimg to look for other alternatives to Zoom.

I am also an online teacher. With the new chat box, I feel that I just no longer have the control I need for online teaching. It is incredibly frustrating! I think we might need to move to TEAMS to make using the chatbox while teaching a viable prospect.

Do you know if TEAMS allows the pupils to only send messages to the teacher - so that all pupils cannot see their chat?  I don't want the pupils to chat to each other, as they start distracting each other.  I know Google meet is not suitable as it only lets you have a group chat.

I reached out to zoom support, they quickly replied with a fix to this issue. In settings, toggle off the option for ‘new chat experience.’ I did, happy camper once again as old chat format is back. Thank you Zoom

Giant step backward zoom.

I am looking for a replacement to zoom.

Zoom senior sales staff have said they realize the update is unworkable and there is nothing that will be done about it currently.

Anyone have suggestions to alternatives for zoom?

This is a major issue for us at The Literacy Club also. I am hoping for a reversion very soon otherwise will have to figure out alternatives.

This really needs to change immediately. I have now started researching alternatives to Zoom such as BigBlueButton, Pencil Spaces, Bramble.io, etc.

I second this -- teching large meetings, it is difficult to even see a direct message now, or return to an old one. I'm having to do a lot more work now, and it is a distraction. Keeping up with the direct messages in a meeting of 100+ people is now quite challenging.

We have a group game on Zoom weekly, and the new format makes it very difficult to see everyone's responses. We keep asking WHY Zoom made this awful change and how to return to the old format. At least give us an option to use the old format!!
