Since I updated the Zoom today I cant use the Advanced sharing option Slides as background. There is a triangle with exclamation mark with text " You can now share slides as background with presenter layouts." Did you disabled this option? What can I do to access it again? Daniel Paulus

Aaron - my sentiments exactly. It is a mess to have to go out of the zoom meeting to open PPT, then click on Slide show only to have it monopolize your entire screen, then spend a minute moving things out of the way! Did anyone actually think this through? Then on top of that you have to click on the chat to see what the audience is saying while you are presenting!!! If a new student joins the seminar, I can't see the participants list without having to click on it. In the meantime, the students are waiting. Seriously? I can walk and chew gum at the same time, but three things at once is ridiculous. The old way I could see my PPT, the participant list and the chat at the same time. Again, they did not think this through... STILL waiting for them to bring back the functionality so I can use an updated version. This is a security risk and makes me angry. I have brought the issue up to the university and many of my colleagues are saying the same thing...

I cannot believe to removed this, it was such a good and easy to use feature ... create a presentation ... share it as virtual background ... position yourself on the screen press record ... I did workshops all year every week with this function. Now its an absolute nightmare ... on what planet was the Product Owner think this was a good idea ... you will lost people who use this function to teach almost instantly .. like your entire customer base will be forced to find another solution. In my 30 years of using Tech .. literally the worse update feature or removal of a feature I have ever seen, I am perplexed ! Please roll it back asap

This seems to work to some degree, but doesn't have the same functionality that the older version had. It appears as if you have to keep the Share window open (you didn't need to previously), and there is now a big, black frame around the image (wasn't there previously). I'm also present on the side of the screen, which is a problem, though I suspect I may be able to turn self-view off to remove that.
So... better, thank you. Is is useable at this point (I have 6.3.1), but still not as good as it was originally.

I am facing the same problem as David. How to get the older version back? What version the older one is? How to get it back?

Welcome to the Zoom Community, @Mark_C_TH! We're glad to have you here. If you wish to use the older version you can download it through this link. We would also advise sending a feedback regarding the functionality that you like/need.

I have sent feedback and so have several others. I don't see the functionality reinstated. The problem with your LINK is that it is an older version and it is a pkg. file. I have no idea how to open it to override the current zoom application. Directions?
As far as using an older version, the college sends an email to instructors if they are using an outdated version. I am also kicked out of seminars with my students several times when I don't update the version prior to the seminar. So, is this link going to cause all of that to happen? This is not a solution! You need to reinstate the functionality of using PPT as a background and eliminate that triangle warning that takes you to information that does not help! Before techs change things, they need to think about the different uses for ZOOM. I have already been discussing the issues with two of the colleges and other instructors are not happy as well. I HIGHLY recommend that ZOOM reinstate the PPT background ability to ensure they retain current clients. Again, not everyone uses zoom for meetings. Not everyone has a moderator to monitor the chat and participant lists while they are presenting. Having to continually click on the chat box to open it to see if students are typing is RIDICULOUS! The cc and the participant videos takes up enough of the screen. HOW DO YOU PRESENT with all of that non-essential information taking up space on the screen? Insert "x" to remove from the screen... this is another nuisance! IN addition, if you are going to provide a feedback link, it should actually take you to a screen where you can send feedback like most organizations have on the website. Fill in the blank template for feedback makes more sense! Get with the program.

So, when are you going to fix the problem and bring back the functionality so we can use updated versions of ZOOM instead of using a previous version that may not be as secure? THINK THAT ONE THROUGH!

Would you consider bringing back the "Use Slide as Background" function? T he sharing layout works well for many situations, but for those of us who present with slideshows, it is a real challenge. Having PowerPoint in presentation mode while trying to manage Zoom panels on top just isn't the same.

Hello Community Members,
We’ve heard from many of you in the Community expressing interest in the return of the “Slides as Virtual Background” feature. We truly value your feedback and want to reassure you that our engineers are actively evaluating the possibility of bringing it back. However, at this moment, we do not have a confirmed timeline for when or if the feature will be reintroduced.
We’ll keep you posted as we have more information.
Thank you for your continued support and patience!

Hello 🙂
Has there been any update? Until last week I was able to share PowerPoint as virtual background but since this week my zoom must have updated and the function is gone (for some reason, some of my colleagues still have the function so this must have been some kind of staggered update?)
I have the exact same issue like the previous comments and the new layout features do not give me the same functionality as the PowerPoint as virtual background. If this can't be fixed I will have to use Microsoft Teams (who supports the PowerPoint as background function) instead of Zoom for my meetings again and this would be a pity!

I'm sorry, @AlainH. We don't have an update just yet, but rest assured, as soon as we do, we'll be sure to share it right here in this thread. Thanks for your patience!

@MGSRthanks for getting back. I really hope you guys can fix this back to how it was. I really want to use Zoom and not MS Teams 🙂
Thanks!

this needs to be fixed asap. This is a terrible add / modification.

I don't think this will be fixed asap. From what I see this has been months now. I switched back to MS Teams for my Power Point Presentations.

This won't be a constructive post, but I feel compelled to add to the echo in the hopes that someone at Zoom really drives our collective response home: this update to background slides is absolutely terrible. The previous option was much more intuitive and worked very well.
