The Waiting Room

When I've created meetings in the past and included a waiting room, once I've started the meeting and let everyone in, I have been able to disable the waiting room and all of the latecomers can join bypassing the waiting room. Now that function appears to be grayed out during the meeting. I can't find anything in the settings to change it. How do I change that so I can disable the waiting room during a meeting after I no longer need it?

I am new to disabling the waiting room.  I think I see how to do that through settings.  Does disabling the waiting room simply mean that someone can join a meeting automatically without a password or having to be admitted.?

Yes. In the past, I've always included a waiting room in the meeting set-up. And then once the meeting begins and I've let everyone in, I can disable the waiting room and anyone late to the meeting can join straightaway. But now during the meeting, the function to disable the waiting room is greyed out and I have to watch the waiting room the entire time. I have other meeting tasks I must be doing and I can't figure out how to disable it during the meeting.
