Set a Default View (Gallery/Speaker View)

Is there a way to set a default view (speaker or gallery) when joining Zoom Meeting so it doesn't need to be changed on a meeting by meeting basis?

Thank you!

Hi @LeeD_2021

I am not sure if you can set a default - but you can have BOTH at the same time in different windows if you use Zoom in Dual Monitor mode. So you can get the best of both worlds.

Hope this helps.

I have this same problem and it is quite annoying.  Cannot seem to lock meeting view to Gallery which is my preferred view. It automatically changes back to Speaker view and am forced to change back again and again. Anyone found a way?

Still experiencing this and hoping something has changed in the last two years.

Others have expressed the default view as a shortcoming.  Default view should be made adjustable.  Why is this so unimportant to Zoom authors?  Seems a bit self-serving that Zoom feels Speaker view is so important.   An equally sized portion of the community prefers Gallery view.

!00% agree.  Where are the Zoom authors on this?

I agree very much. It’s causing a real problem for me because it used to stay in gallery, and now defaults to speaker view every time there’s a screenshare. I’d really appreciate any help with this. I’ve combed the settings and can’t find how to fix this.

Hi there, just found a solution to this issue, wanted people in the more recent replies to see (and if you still need help from 2021)

In the Zoom Portal, go to Admin -> Room Management -> Zoom Rooms

If you want this change to be global to all the Rooms in your Organization, click "Account Settings" next to Zoom Rooms, for individual rooms, select the Room needed from the location directory, and click "Room Settings" (this can be applied at the City and Floor Levels as well, with "City Settings" and "Floor Settings" respectively)

From the settings page, click "Display" and set the display number, and room view here, for 1 display -> 1 participant, it is locked to single view, but multiple displays and participants, you can update the view here to whatever you want. Click save once completed. Hope this helps!
