Original Sound for Musicians ON but still can't hear flute sound!

I teach flute lessons online.

Last night and today, even though my students had selected the "ORIGINAL SOUND FOR MUSICIANS" ON, I could not hear their flute sounds.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue today? Could it be server or update issues?

Yes i am having the same problem. Even with "ORIGINAL SOUND FOR MUSICIANS" turned on, I can’t hear my students' flute sounds. It might be a glitch with Zoom or maybe something with the servers or a recent update. Hopefully, it gets fixed soon

I am having the same problem.  I will have to cancel the class because the instrument sounds are not coming through even with Original Sound for Musicians on and all boxes empty.

I discovered that iPhone has a system noise cancellation that needs to be turned off as well!! Write me on FB or IG and I'll send you the demo instructional video I made if you want.

Hello there,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience you are experiencing. Just to set your expectations, the original sound for musicians need to be turned on during every meeting. If you have turned on the setting before a meeting it will not take effect.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for your response. Your answer does not fully address the above concern.

I know that not only does the Original Sound have to be enabled in the settings, but also engaged during the meeting. I tell all of my students there are TWO STEPS to turning on the Original Sound!

I have also discovered through this thread that that some devices including iPhones have a system default echo cancellation... turn it off in the phone's system settings.

Some laptops too. It may be through an app called RealTek.

However, sometimes, it seems I still have difficulty hearing students.  Fortunately most of them have more than one device and through following these steps we can usually find one that works.  If you have any further details I would appreciate it.

Your answer does not address the above concerns. All posts said that they had original sound for musician turned on.  Yet still, the flute sound does not come through. I am experiencing the same issue today 10/7/2024. Please advise.

I found out that turning "Original Sound" on in the settings only gives you a toggle button at the top left of the screen (Mac). You have to toggle that button to 'ON' to actually turn it on. This finally worked for me.

Yes, thank you but I already know about this.  I tell all of my students there are TWO STEPS to turning on the Original Sound!

Yes, I am aware of this, as are my students. We always click the Original Sound for Musicians toggle and still cannot hear flute sound. They can hear MY flute (I use an auxiliary mic, not sure if that matters in this context) and I can hear students who play other instruments (ukulele, guitar). Just not my flute students flute. This is a problem specific to flute. Others have described it above. It is also a new problem, as of this week, for me.

Kindly try configuring for live performance mode.
Enable live performance audio during a meeting

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
  2. Start or join a meeting.
  3. Connect to meeting audio with the Computer Audio option.
In the top-left corner of the meeting window, the current status of the live performance audio feature is indicated.
  4. Click the Live performance audio icon to toggle this on or off.
A notification will appear, indicating if the feature is currently enabled or not.

Notes:

  • All participants in the meeting must have this audio profile enabled during the live meeting; otherwise, the improved latency is not achievable.
  • At this time, cloud recordings do not support Live performance audio. The cloud recording will not capture anything when Live performance audio is enabled in a meeting.
