I recently downgraded my Zoom plan from Zoom Pro to Zoom Basic Plus and had a frustrating experience when my meeting abruptly ended after 40 minutes. I couldn't find any clear instructions on Zoom’s website, there was no way to contact support, and I couldn't locate any helpful posts on the topic. Today, while hosting a meeting, I figured out how to extend the meeting time on my own and would like to share the method.
1. There is a common misconception that the extension button appears as soon as the meeting starts. This is incorrect. In my case, the button only became active about 20 minutes into the meeting.
2. The extension button appears at the top right corner of the Zoom meeting window. It is located just to the left of the buttons used to maximize or close the window.
3. The extension button is not visible unless you move your mouse to that location.
I hope this information is helpful to other Zoom Basic Plus users. For reference, I am using Microsoft Windows on a desktop computer.

hi @J0_in_Seoul
As I understand, zoom will give you the option to extend but you can only do this a limited number of times in your billing month and after that you will not get the option.
all the best

What a faff this is, I couldn't see it the other day in a meeting and we had to restart. You'd think they'd make the button more visible. I couldn't see it anywhere!

Thank you, Jo In Seoul! I when to User Management and made sure I had the Basic Plus Box Checked and then I removed the Zoom App and Re-installed the Zoom Workplace App. Then, magically, in my next meeting the "Extend Meeting" option appears exactly as you describe. Thank you very much!!

Many thanks Jo In Seoul. We suffered the same experience and I was about to give up on trying to contact Support (is that actually possible?) when I saw your post. Great work! Thanks.

You can only extend a Zoom call within the meeting itself. You cannot designate it, for example, as an 80 minute call upfront so any calendar invite will say 40 minutes. Once you have started a zoom call you have to find a button that says “Extend”. For me it was at the top right of the screen but only appeared when I put the cursor over the top tool bar. Once extended a timer will appear showing you the time remaining. It will count down with minutes and seconds until the last minute when the display changes to “less than one minute”. Unless you happen to have a stop watch going you won’t know when the last second comes.
You may not extend a call a second time so 80 minutes is the maximum. Also note that if, for example, you log into your call 10 minutes before the scheduled time, those 10 minutes count towards the 80 minute maximum.
