Cloud recording - interpreter's language

1. I wonder if cloud recording is only allowed for recording an original language or not?
2. If a person (who is assigned to be a co-host/ or a host) happens to listen into an interpreter, and clicks 'record on cloud', will an original language or an interpreter's language is recorded? Or both is recorded?

3. can we record both local and interpreter's languages on cloud at the same time? How?

Hi @paeng ,

Hi,

The recording in the cloud will only collect the session (also the language of the local session), for this it is important that the interpreter or the team from which the interpretation is made, make the recording locally.

Thanks but what did you mean by locally in this instance?
As the  interpreter can I record my interpretation of the event on my computer to the cloud?

Hello,

Zoom recently enhanced cloud recording so that the language interpreter's audio will also be captured in the cloud recording. It will save as a separate audio file in the cloud recording files, and when viewing, users can decide if they'd like to listen to the original audio or interpreted audio.

See the Web release notes for November 6, 2022: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/10323040416141#h_01GGFQEJEERW2V8FVE7W2B1N6K

That is very helpful, but as a follow on, can we download the recordings in multiple video files (one for each language)?

Thank you in advance for your response.

The cloud recording gives you:
1920x1030 mp4 video with shared screen and the active speaker in the corner
1920x103 mp4 video of just the shared screen
640x360 mp4 video of just the active speaker
1280x720 mp4 video of gallery view of those with camera on
separate .m4a audio files of the original sound and separate files for each language

So you have to use an editing program if you need the video with a language other than the original.

And you will also get a link for sharing that provides a browser view WITH THE LANGUAGE CHOICES AVAILABLE!. I don't know what more we can ask. This is really a great improvement.

Hey! Just clarifying: this means that there is solely a live link provided for the interpretation rather than a saveable cloud file? And is closed captioning in the interpreted language also possible with the audio?

Trying to figure out how to end up with a recording of my meating with at least the CC in both French and English. If the audio in French is also possible/simple then would be happy to have that too.

Thanks in advance!!

There are both the link and the save-able files from cloud.

Closed captioning is not included. That's an entirely separate process you would have to produce yourself by transcribing the desired language(s) and then using an edit program to create the captions. There are more and more AI based solutions coming on for this. PremierePro will generate captions from the audio, for one.

Just in case it's not clear, these other translated languages are expected to be produced by live, human interpreters listening to Zoom and speaking other languages into it.

Hope that helps.

How to enable this feature? I don't see an option under recording settings to capture interpreter's audio.

It's not a separate setting. If you have interpretation function working, and record the meeting, the cloud recording will give you the separate audio tracks for each language that is set up for interpretation.

Hi @Miacarina ,

Currently in the cloud only the original recording is uploaded. Therefore, each interpreter has to save the recording locally in the language in which they interpret.

Sorry David, but this recently changed to the above improvement as noted by Miacarina.

I was so pleasantly surprised to find by accident.
(It was never the task of interpreter to do their own recording, though...)
