Closed Captioning recording / showing my comments to audience despite me being on mute

I was hosting a webinar.  I had closed captioning enabled for accessibility purposes for the delegates.  I always mute my microphone when showing videos.  I was talking to a colleague while a video played and noticed that my words were being incorporated in the closed captions in addition to the words from the video!  HELP!  This is not OK.  If a presenter is muted, I cannot imagine how closed captioning is picking up my language.  It is very distracting for attendees and also a  privacy issue.  I absolutely double checked that I was muted and I was.  How do I get closed captioning to not record what I am saying when I am muted.  The captured closed captioning errors are also in the recording.

Hi Amy

I couldn't confirm that behavior, muting a mic in Zoom did not generate any captions for me (no matter if it was standard meeting or webinar... I was only getting a notification that my mic is muted and others cannot hear me) but for sure it's not something that should be happening.
If you can test it and consistently repeat that problem, then it's something that should be reported to Zoom Support.

Before that - you should check if your Zoom Workplace client it up to date and it not, then update it.
Another step that I'd do if it's still there even after an update - perform a clean install (do all the steps from link below, including running CleanZoom)

After that I'd report the problem.

Thanks.  I had the issue twice yesterday.  I'll attempt your suggestions and report back

Did any of this resolve your issue? We had it happen during a rather large meeting today. No one was able to hear the audio, because the user was muted, but it did appear in the closed captioning.

We think we isolated the situation/problem to when we were using powerpoint and closed captioning was enabled on that app within the Zoom meeting.  We've since ensured that Powerpoint's closed captioning is off and we are only using the captioning feature in Zoom.  it seems to have taken care of the issue for us, for now.

Thank you! Our situation was very similar so we will begin with this step!
