When virtual background was turned off in earlier versions, it turned off. Then I could hold up stuff before the camera and it would look OK. Now when I turn off virtual backgrounds it is all blue and I can't show anything I hold up in front of the camera or see anything but a blue virtual background that causes weird stuff to happen to my image like disappearing parts of my head etc.

Looks like zoom’s app is forcing virtual backgrounds on you even when you don’t want them. typically, the fix is to head into your zoom web portal settings under Meeting → In Meeting (Advanced) and toggle off the virtual backgrounds setting. If that’s locked or grayed out, it’s likely disabled by an admin. sometimes signing out of the app and back in helps the change take effect.
If none of that works, double-check your settings, app version, or touch base with your zoom admin to see if they have it locked down.
hope that helps—let me know if you still can’t turn it off!

Here’s what usually helps:
Double-check “None” vs. “Blur/Color”
In many apps the option labeled None or Turn off virtual background isn’t obvious anymore. Make sure you’re explicitly selecting None instead of Blur, Color, or a preset.
Update your app
Zoom, Meet, and Teams all pushed recent updates that changed background handling. Make sure you’re on the latest version—older versions can get stuck in this “blue fallback” mode.
Disable hardware acceleration / video processing
In Zoom for example:
Go to Settings → Video → Advanced
Toggle off hardware acceleration for video processing.
This sometimes forces the camera feed to show raw video again.
Check camera driver or OS update
On Windows/Mac/Chromebook, sometimes the camera driver update mismatches the background processing. Try updating the OS or the camera driver.
Force raw camera feed
If the video app doesn’t give you the option, you can often test by:
Opening the camera in the system app (Camera on Windows, Photo Booth on Mac, Camera app on Chromebook).
If it looks normal there, the issue is inside the meeting app.
If it’s blue even there, it’s a driver/OS bug.
Fallback workaround
If you urgently need to show things on camera (like holding up a paper), use the Share Screen → Camera Input feature (Zoom and Meet both have it) — it bypasses the background filter.

I am still not able to change my setting to none. when I select none, it changes to a trees and water background. I can change to a different picture, but None takes me back to the trees and water scene. HELP!
