I join a weekly writing group and discussion. Lately, I can hear some participants but not others. Sometimes, I can hear "Gail," but if she speaks again later, I won't be able to. I know it's on my end bc I can see everyone reacting to her. Help!

As an audio and broadcast engineer I can tell you that computer audio can be very complicated. In this case it is not known what device is being used. So we can only guess that you may not have the speaker volume turned up, you may be using speakers instead of headphones, you may have audio enhancements turned on. Of course, there are numerous other possibilities when we don't know the device or OS.

I'm using a MacBook with the internal speakers and microphone. The volume is up using OS Sequoia.

If you are leaving your mic unmuted, try muting the mic when you are not speaking and see if that helps.

Also, it is recommended to not use speakers especially when using the built-in mic. Try using ear buds or headphones.
