The zoom timer app is not working on my mac. It comes on when I start a meeting, but once my mouse moves off the app, aAll I get is a black screen. I can't change the time duration, I can see anything, and the display on my video does not change. The OS is 10.14.6 (Mojave).

OK. So I finally upgraded my OS as a last resort. I'm now on 14.7.1 (Sonoma), and it seems to have solved he issue. The timer is working (for now) and is slightly different than the previous version. It's now in a rectangular box and displays in green, turning yellow, then red. For those of you still dealing with this issue, I'd recommend an OS upgrade to see if that sorts it for you.
Wish Zoom support would have recommended it...

Thanks for letting us know, jb! I bet this is probably my issue too as my OS is outdated. If this works for me, I will chime in back here at some point.

Unfortunately I have to keep the older OS otherwise some of my apps wouldn't work on my computer (32 bit vs. 64 bit problem).

I am so disappointed that Zoom isn't addressing the part of the problem that is theirs to fix! Yes, in some cases upgrading your Mac OS will allow the timer to work again but why can't they identify what bug they're introduced in recent weeks that causes the problem with older operating systems and fix the bug -- or at least let those of us with older machines access the older timer that worked just fine?!

Great questions, @JudyS2! I hope they can provide a work around to those with older operating systems.

I use Big Sur on one of my computers I use for music composing, and my laptop (also and older Mac) is on Catalina. The Timer App is not working on either of them. Does anyone from Zoom read these posts?

I'm not sure but if so they're ignoring us! lol! Some paid users on this thread have reported it and one person had success with updating their OS. I messaged them on FB and they told me to uninstall and reinstall the app which I've already done to no avail. I'll let you know what else they recommend.

Same! This is Zoom's responsibility. I'm not impressed with customer service right now.

Me too. Very frustrated. Have begun shopping around for alternatives to Zoom. I don't want all the ridiculous AI. I just want the dang simple timer I've been using for ages in meetings to make sure everyone gets a chance to share.

I totally agree. I was a paid user for some work I was doing, and now I'm back to free for a while. I used to get immediate help from tech support back then, now they just don't care.
I hope someone there recognizes this problem.
Thanks.

I have experienced the exact same issue. I have tried every fix. Zoom needs too admit they screwed up and fix the dang issue. Come on Zoom. You're rich. Step up.

Me too and countless hours spent trying to resolve with little to no help from zoom support. Looking into other options to host our meetings this platform zoom has way too many issues. Bad support.

Me too! I have also spend countless hours with maddeningly unhelpful involvement from zoom support. I too am looking to just leave Zoom at this point. If they would just fix the dang timer I'd be glad to remain a paying customer.

I've been messaging Zoom on FB. I just shared a link to this thread letting them know that paying customers are getting fed up. You can message them too even if you're not a paying customer. I don't know another way to apply pressure or be heard by Zoom. https://www.facebook.com/zoom

Thanks, Sherry, that is helpful. I did manage (as a paying customer) to find a way to file a report with Zoom although they make it VERY hard to find that option and I have had no response. I will try the Facebook route and hope everybody else on this thread will do the same. Maybe SOMEBODY in customer service will pay attention. Zoom has done tremendously well in recent years and the least they can do is to be responsive to the needs of the customers who flocked to them at the start of Covid. If not, then it's time for us to find another tool to embrace for our online meetings.

Good news! I had a very helpful chat with Diggory of Zoom support. He totally followed the problem as I explained it and said the issue might need to be escalated to a consultation since it's only happening on Macs. Thank you, Diggory!

More good news! Diggory escalated this to Tin, and apparently they're working on a fix. Tin said to check back tomorrow (Friday, Jan 10) or Saturday -- hopefully the timer app will be working again then. Yay!!!

Happened to me a few months ago as well. So the timing is same as the others. It's disappointing that they don't seem to have be addressing this issue or acknowledging the large number of users on this thread.

IT'S WORKING! HOORAY!!! Thank you so much to Diggory and Tin in Zoom support. And to everyone in this thread who teased out this problem. The reason they were willing to escalate it was that -- through this community -- we determined this was only affecting Mac users. That made them recognize it was probably a bug on their end. So they fixed it. Yay! Go team!

Yay. This is great news and a special thanks to you, Jennifer, for persisting at it. I filed a report and made some other attempts at contacting Zoom support but didn't have the luck you did. Much appreciated. It's definitely working for me now!!

It's still not working for me. I restarted zoom, reinstalled timer, as soon as I moved my mouse off, it goes to black. Possibly my older OS?

Bummer! My OS is on the older side too -- Monterey v. 12.7.6. (I updated it in the process of working on this issue.) What OS are you running? Maybe I can add a note in the ticket -- as long is it's still open -- saying that this seems to have fixed the issue for most people in the community chat, but there is still someone running OS (#????) who's still having problems.

I'm on Big Sur and it seems to work for me, now. I believe Big Sur is a version before Monterey.
I'm going to test it again, in a long meeting later tonight. If I don't update this post, then it worked in that meeting as well. I had only did a quick 1 minute test.

I'm running OS10.14.6. I have some apps that need the older OS (32 bits vs. 64 bits).

Mine is the same as jennifer25's Monterey 12.7.6 Thankfully it started working on mine. If you don't have a paid account, try messaging Zoom on Facebook. They were pretty responsive there.
