Why is Zoom AI so bad? - Are the developers just useless and not up to the standard of literally all other AIs.
I just had a meeting and all I wanted was a more detailed summary of points and takeaways extrapolated from the transcript.
If I had a transcript, I'd run it through ChatGPT, but I can't do that, because Zoom can't do that either.
I feel like Zoom is just complacently hoping that people don't go elsewhere and use a platform that actually works, and continue using their junky platform.
So, real question... Why is the AI companion so ridiculously terrible and has almost no real functionality or understanding for tasks?

Hi,
Zoom AI is in Initial Stage!
Currently, Zoom's AI focuses on enhancing meeting experiences through features like automatic transcription, meeting summaries, and smart chatbots. However, we acknowledge that our AI may not yet meet the standards of other platforms.
There are several reasons for this:
1. Data privacy and security: Zoom prioritizes protecting user data, which can limit the scope of AI capabilities.
2. Complexity of meeting data: Meetings involve diverse topics, accents, and languages, making it challenging for AI to accurately capture and summarize information.
3. Balancing features and resources: Zoom aims to provide a range of features while ensuring platform stability and performance.

Dear @ChrisR1705 ,
Thank you for your feedback.
Zoom's core capabilities are always evolving and while the AI capabilities are above industry standards there are still areas to be improved upon. This external evaluation was just done by a 3rd party which helped us understand the areas where Zoom's AI shines and where we need to focus our R&D. It sounds like there may be a bug in the scenario you are describing where the transcript or summary is not showing up.
Can you help us understand what you are trying to do and whether you have the Transcript, Recording, or AI Companion turned on?

It's bad. And I'm comparing this to Taciq.io which is not the most advanced transcription AI service, but it just works... immediately! My company is in love with Zoom and have set up security measures that prevent any other AI transcription service from working with the desktop or web versions. So, I have to deal with it. You HAVE to be the host to get the report, co-hosting does not mean you will automatically get it, so I have to ask the host to send it to me. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get a live running transcript of everything said in the meeting. I've read, you'd have to download the transcript before ending the call or it will be lost. Why? Sometimes the report doesn't capture everything. I have all of these settings turned on but again, I have to be the host for any of it to work. It's just very complicated to work with, not user friendly.

@djtiger76 , much of what you reference above is a simple account setting change to have it work the way you wish. HEre are a couple points I want to make on your comments that may help:
1. You DO NOT HAVE to be the host to get the report. That is a setting that the Company/Host makes. You can automatically share it with anyone that was in the meeting. By default this is set to host only, but the host can make this change and the summary can be sent via email, shared via settings, posted to chat and even deposited automatically into a Zoom Doc.
2. Co-hosting a meeting does not mean you will automatically, but this is a setting that the host can allow all Co-hosts to get the meeting. We restrict it by default to only the host for data privacy concerns, but the host can always go into their account settings and enable access to a wider audience (including everyone on the meeting).
3. You do not have to ask the host to send it to you if the settings are configured correctly.
4. Live running transcript can be accessed if Meeting Questions from AI Companion is on...again, another setting the host controls. This will allow you to ask questions and get information from the meeting transcript real time in the meeting. We also have Live Summary a feature in early stage access today.
5. You do not have to download the transcript before ending the call. If you have meeting transcripts on (a setting in the account that can be configured at the Account, Group or User level), you can access the transcript after the meeting under the "Recording & Transcripts'' tab in the user settings.

I am trying out AI Companion because our faculty would like to see how well it takes minutes for meetings. We had it on yesterday, and it missed 2/3 of the meeting. I just received a notice of an AI Companion "transcript" of a session where I had turned on Zoom to check my hair (never again). I said nothing during the few minutes that I added some product to it before a big meeting. AI Companion sent a transcript that never existed. It said I was isolated and suicidal. I put some product in my hair and turned the thing off, that simple. I DO NOT want anything, especially AI scrapers, spreading rumors that I am suicidal when I'm simply being vain. I'm turning this garbage off and will never use Zoom AI again.
