Problem with Virtual Background

my virtual backgrounds look correct in the virtual background grid, but when I select any of them, there is a red mark that looks like a brush mark on the images. How would that get there and how do I remove it?

The red mark you’re seeing on your virtual background in Zoom might be caused by one of the following issues:

1. Annotation Tools Left Active

  • If you or someone else used the annotation tool during a Zoom meeting, the red mark might be an annotation that remains visible when using a virtual background.
  • Solution:
    • During a meeting, click View Options (at the top of the meeting window).
    • Select Clear All Drawings to remove any active annotations.

2. Issue with the Background File

  • The image or video file you're using for your virtual background might have been edited or corrupted, causing the red mark to appear.
  • Solution:
    • Check the original file to ensure it doesn’t contain the red mark.
    • If the mark exists in the file, replace it with a clean version.

3. Graphics Driver or Rendering Issue

  • The red mark might be a glitch in how Zoom renders your virtual background due to outdated graphics drivers or a temporary app bug.
  • Solution:
    1. Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date.
    2. Restart the Zoom application.
    3. If the issue persists, reinstall Zoom from Zoom's download center.

4. Virtual Background Cache Issue

  • Zoom may have cached a faulty version of the virtual background.
  • Solution:
    1. Delete the affected virtual background and re-upload it.
    2. Go to Settings > Background & Effects > Virtual Backgrounds and remove the background.
    3. Re-upload the file to see if the issue is resolved.

5. Zoom App Update Needed

  • An outdated version of Zoom might cause rendering glitches.
  • Solution:
    • Update your Zoom app to the latest version. Go to Profile Picture > Check for Updates in the desktop app.
