the host of a meeting is going out of town she wants me to be the host. How do we do that?

Hi @thoreson Only If you are in the same account she can make you an alternative host, When scheduling a meeting, the host can designate another Licensed user on the same account to be the alternative host. The alternative host can start the meeting on the host's behalf.
This user will receive an email notifying them that they've been added as an alternative host, with a link to start the meeting.

Hi there. Excellent reply if the alternative host is known at the time of scheduling a meeting. However, I have many recurring meetings where I need an alternative host. Can it be done for an existing meeting especially, but not only, recurring ones?
