Zoom freezes my computer when using my new Dell video conferencing monitor

Hi, I recently installed a new DELL video conferencing monitor C2722DE that has an integrated webcam and mic.

Zoom is able to recognize the camera and the mic while in the 'settings' yet as soon as I start the Zoom session, it freezes my entire computer. And yes, it happened during my class session yesterday so not a happy day.

This does not happen with other apps like Skype or Teams, the camera works fine and the sound too. I have installed all updates for zoom and it just keeps happening. Please advise.

Hi @MBV2022 , so sorry to hear about the freezing issue. Have you submitted a ticket with support yet?

If not, I'd encourage you to start there: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/requests/new

A user in my organization is also experiencing a similar issue.

Issue: Windows will freeze and emit a buzzing sound (from the speaker) when on a Zoom meeting, the computer in general will freeze for about 2-5 seconds then it will resume as if nothing happened. it makes a buzzing sound because it is holding the last note that the audio picked up.

  • Uses Dell monitor speaker

HW: New HP 600 Mini G9 16 GB RAM, Dell 34” curved Monitor U3423WE

    Zoom App: Zoom Client 5.17.3482

    Troubleshooting:

    • Ran full HPIA (HP Image Assistant to update drivers) – no change
    • disabled the audio "enable audio enhancements" – no change
    • audio driver or subsystem drivers w hardware & Win10?, try Win 11 – testing in progress
    • 16 GB RAM – requested new PC with 32 GB RAM - pending
    • Update Zoom version - pending
