Zoom Desktop Client lost Meetings Tab

Hi!

My Zoom Desktop Client (on Windows) updated to one that has consolidated the Calendar and Meetings tabs (or so it says, feels more like it -lost- the Meetings tab) and now I can't really access cloud recordings from my desktop client. Or I just can't find them. Is there a way to go back to the old UI? Having to log into my Zoom account on my browser when I have a desktop client open just to get a cloud meeting's URL is a really bad experience.

Hi there @arodznegron thank you for posting for the first time, and welcome to the Zoom Community!

In your settings: https://zoom.us/profile/setting, you can disable the Merge Meetings and Calendar tabs. This will add a Meetings tab to your navigation.

Let me know if that helps!

EDITED: SEPTEMBER 20, 2024

The setting for merging the Meetings and Calendar tabs was removed from the Web portal on September 16, 2024. For Zoom Workplace app version 6.2.0 and higher, the tabs are now permanently merged to enhance visibility of calendar views and meeting details. More details on this change are available in our support article: Using the merged Meetings and Calendar tabs.

I found the setting you outlined but it didn't change what shows up in the desktop application. I have folks that need the calendar and the zoom meeting to be separate items. Please advise. Thanks!

I just lost my meetings tab on Zoom for Mac and I don't see that option in the settings.

My words are my own and do not represent anyone or anything else.

@Khirschmann I started a new thread for this issue because I don't believe the folks who provided solutions here realize that their solution is no longer valid. Here is the thread I started today:

Merge Meetings and Calendar. I see that there are more people who are having the same issue. Feel free to go and share about your issue there.

Consolidating this is terrible. Has made zoom go from easy to very difficult when I need to look at meeting details. I don't want or need to see my whole calendar in the zoom app.

This is unacceptable.  You have removed options and taken away capabilities.  I don't need another d*mn calendar app, we have a company calendar system.  I just need to create Zoom meetings, and now I can't do that without scheduling a calendar meeting.  I can't make a calendar meeting because your app sucks and doesn't let you do that (clicking all over on the calendar and nothing happens to create a meeting).  Clicking on a past meeting gives a full screen window with no details, you can't modify anything about the Zoom meeting in this stupid calendar object that does nothing.  So now the only way I have found to actually make a Zoom meeting is to go to the Home tab and click the Schedule button.  This is beyond stupid.  The Calendar tab is useless.  The meeting tab is now gone so I can't go to a place to see all my meetings in a list and start or join a meeting or see recordings (ok there is a open recordings link on the Home as well, but WTF...).  You have taken away the primary function of your platform.  Whoever thought this was a good idea needs to be fired immediately and this whole thing needs to be rolled back to be functional again.  Otherwise we're going to have to look for a replacement platform because Zoom just ate itself.  Or after wasting an hour of my time, is the real answer that you're abandoning the desktop app??  Looks like the web app is now fully fleshed out and works the way the desktop used to before this calendar nonsense.  But, it also lacks the ability to make a new meeting on the meetings tab, you have to go to Home, but then that opens a whole other browser tab at a whole other UI to schedule the meeting.  And, that doesn't have calendar integration.  So I guess you want us to abandon our other calendar system and use yours which doesn't work properly?  Nope, you've killed your product.

Thank you! That works!

My feedback: not a good feature to merge them. It's good that there's the option to "unmerge" them, but as a user that spends all time in the client itself, it's a double-whammy of a negative experience:

  • A change was introduced that had a negative impact on my use of the product
  • The only way to revert the change is to:
    • Go to the website, which I don't even use
    • Find the setting and modify it
    • Restart the Zoom desktop client

Maybe make these changes opt-in in the future?

Anyway, thank you very much!

Thank you for your comment.  I too was negatively effected by this change.  I was able to get meetings back on the desktop by following your suggest.  Thank you!

After applying the update today, my meeting tab disappeared again.  I went to the web Zoom settings, and the search on "merged" resulted in "no results found".  Where did the opt out of the calendar and meeting tabs go? Zoom is getting very complicated. When I started using it during the pandemic its appeal was its simplicity.

Using the merged Meetings and Calendar tabs

If your Zoom Workplace app version is lower than 6.2.0 and you have the Merge Meetings and Calendar tabs toggle enabled prior to September 16, 2024, you will continue to see the merged Calendar and Meetings tab.

If your Zoom Workplace app version is lower than 6.2.0 and you have the Merge Meetings and Calendar tabs toggle disabled prior to September 16, 2024, you will still see separate tabs for Meetings and Calendar.  Once you upgrade to version 6.2.0, the Calendar and Meetings tab will merge, and you won’t have the option to return to separate tabs.

Zoom developers: WHY???  The app is centrally about Zoom meetings, why would you drop the Meetings tab in the app??

I am with @Marty6

Even this claim in the support article is not true: We've set this option in our profile to disabled well before September 16, even shortly after version 6 came out in spring, and the tabs remained separate up until version 6.1.11. But with version 6.2.0, the meetings tab switched to calendar view again and there isn't a separate calendar tab any more. As soon as I downgrade my client to version 6.1.11, the old meetings tab is back.

As others here have already stated, this new calendar view  is a sharp drop in UX also for us, as we almost exclusively use recurring meetings without a specific date. So, normally, or calendar is empty and we'll always have to pop open that little box at the bottom of the screen to find and start a meeting. This is too difficult for most of our users and we seriously consider switching to another product if this is not fixed.

totally agree... this is confusing and stupid as you cannot see what is a zoom meeting and what is not.  It's differentiated on the mobile app, why not on desktop?

I just had an update a couple of days ago and suddenly my Meetings tab was gone (I had it set to "NOT Merge") and replaced by the Calendar tab.  And not only the Calendar tab but my actual calendar.  Since I have like 10 subcalendars, it was now impossible to see any of my actual Zoom meetings.  Also, my repeated meetings were listed under the proper date and time.... but every single instance appeared there - ie, if there were 10 repeated meetings left in the year, ALL of them appeared crammed together on the same day.

I wasted TWO HOURS that I didn't have trying to find out how to unmerge them, only to be told that's no longer a thing - if you have an integrated calendar, you now have Calendar view and well, SORRY if you don't like it or it doesn't work for you.  The "Help" Bot is SOOO useless it might as well be trying to answer questions about how to make bread because it doesn't answer anywhere CLOSE to what you're trying to ask it.  So, "Real person please." only to find out that the service that I PAY for doesn't allow me to have live support.  I signed out of the calendar integration, trying to turn something, anything off.  No go.

Finally I just deleted the calendar integration entirely from both Zoom AND Google, in three different spots (web version, desktop app version, google version).  Blessedly my Meetings tab is back.  No calendar integration, but I didn't much use it anyway, and the places I do absolutely need it like for Calendly, it still works.

Please don't force stuff like these merges on your customers.  Give an option to turn it off.  Because, I am not a fan of "Butter", but I'm starting to consider it as my meeting option rather than Zoom.

Thanks.

Agreed with others here. Just lost my Meetings tab in desktop nav + even if I WANTED to use the calendar view, I can't because it's not synced properly + wasting a ton of time trying to fix and/or find my upcoming meeting info. SUPER FRUSTRATED. ...is there any hope that this change will be reverted or does anyone have good news?

Yes, this is incredibly irritating. I used the meetings tab all the time, and literally no other part of the Zoom client. Now it's gone.

I tried turning off calendar integration, and the meetings tab reappeared, but now all of today's meetings are missing — though I have some from January that are showing up for some reason.

Please fix this. I just want a list of upcoming meetings I can click on when it's meeting time. Nothing else. No calendar, no documents, no contacts database, no AI garbage, no whiteboards — I'm never going to use any of that, I already have all of that in the OS.

As it stands, I think I'm going to start using Slack huddles for meetings as much as possible, rather than Zoom, rely on my regular calendar and URL links to start meetings, and quit the Zoom client after each meeting.
