I have just invested the $5 per month to my account to add translated captions functionality as I'm about to start working with a German client. however, on testing, the german translation is not working ... Japanese, Malaysian and Hebrew all are ok, but German just brings up english text, Is this a known issue?

Thanks for any help and advice on this!

Hello @Charlie9 ,
this seems to be a configuration issue.
When using translated captions, every participant needs to se two things:

  1. Speaking Language: This is the language that user is speaking in the meeting
  2. Caption Language: That is the language that participant wants to see the captions for himself.

If the speaking language is set incorrectly, e.g., speaking language is set to French, but the participant is speaking English, you will see French text, but it will be nonsense, as the French transcription system tries to recognize English speech as French text.

However, the Chinese and the German systems have an enhanced functionality, as they are bi-lingual systems,
What that means is, that, when you have set your "speaking language" to German, you can either speak English or German, and the transcription system will automatically recognize the correct language (either German and English) and translation will automatically apply the appropriate translation system to show the correct translation. E.g., when you have set your speaking language to German, and somebody has set their caption language to Italian, that participant will always see the captions that are translated to Italian, either by a German-to-Italian system or an English-to-Italian system, depending on whether you speak German or English.

Let me know, whether that explanation helps.

Translated captions are a complete waste of money! I have my settings correct and it keep switching the language on me. Zoom offers zero support for this terrible feature, they should not offer it at all.

Dear @blosoya ,
When translated captions is activated, the settings for speaking language and caption language are in full control of every participant, so that you can set it for yourself and should not be switching on you, once you set the two settings after translated captions was activated.
